What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

I'm a huge Carmen Gomes fan, & if you like her low slow mellow lounge jazz style,  this is low slow mellow blues & I get a feeling this is gonna get played quite a lot, Its her take on Harry Belafonte's 'Belafonte Sings the Blues' & its superb, breathtaking.

Released today by Sound Liaison (.com) in Holland,  I got it in DSD64 @ €10

Original recording format is DXD 352.8 kHz,  & available in DXD, different DSD & PCM resolutions

Interestingly enough these one are sperated less expensive than combined in the package at Qobuz, I know even don't need to split in and find the right artwork.... 24/192

Qobuz 24/96.     (Just listening for the first time, I hear a high level of noise in parts of some tracks.  Replay devices, cables or files?)

"When Glenn first spoke of his "suite of suites" I was intrigued. I love the concept of collaboration and was eager to hear what he and his collaborators - Boson Spin, our own Cousin Silas, and musical polymath Candy L - would bring to the party. I was not disappointed.

Deep, dark (in places), and deliciously enthralling; this is an album of more that its constituent parts ... one that works on so many levels.

I'm grateful to Glenn for bringing this album to weareallghosts, it is so in keeping with our ethos.

As a result of the generous support of folks like Kevin Lyons ... Cousin Silas ... Warren Daly … and the wonderful waag community ... I’m proud to be able to offer a 320kbps version of this release for free over on Archive (archive.org/details/we-are-all-ghosts) with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’

I hope you enjoy this "suite of suites" as much as I have."

Diana Krall  'Turn Up The Quiet'    WAV 24/192kHz  HDTracks (HDT UK have the best price by a big margin)

Released today & one I've been waiting for:  Its a selection of old jazz & american songbook standards..   This is real late night album turn the light down album,  her voice on some tracks is near to a whisper & IMO it fits the mood perfectly.  As usual her piano playing is sublime & she shows enough of her skills to make that clear but not turn it into a piano album.  The backing musicians look interesting with three different combos & Diana seems to have matched them to her style & each song perfectly.   Looking forward to really getting into this one.
