What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

I grabbed this free a while back, I believe after a tip off here.  Quite like it, what do you think of it?

Since I'm posting here, I also just got these in 16/44 from Bandcamp:

Jak Zabija Diabeł by Death Like Mass.  A recommendation from someone on facebook, intense black metal somewhere between the more classic sound of recent Marduk and the chaos of Paracletus-era Deathspell Omega.

And this, Grey Tickles, Black Pressure by John Grant.  No idea how I picked up on him, but I've loved listening to him on Spotify and thought it was time to pony up.  Somewhere between electronic/experimental pop and the Carpenters, with a satirical humour and a lot of character in the lyrics.  I keep waking up in the morning with a random bit of the album going round in my head.  I've managed to just miss him when playing in the same far-flung city a couple of times in the last year or so.  Maybe next time.

Puccini - Turandot. 24/96 prestoclassical  (CAD 17.50) Decca/LPO/Mehta/Sutherland/Pavarotti etc 1972. Opera summer sale.

Their website 'search' is a bit of a mess (at least from where I am) - to get the hires at that price (if interested):

advanced search:  artist-Puccini, label-Decca, format-download: results then show

Turandot with its awards - (if download options do not show hires here) click on Presto 1970s greatest recordings: scroll to Turandot >Digitally remastered Studio-Quality version
