What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

From Bandcamp, FLAC. A band I've never listened too much but the reviews for this music are very enthusiastic.

I bought what I believe is the album she released after this, a collection of Liszt pieces, today. Heard one of the pieces, the ballade #2 (played by someone else) on the radio earlier and thought it was superb, and de la Salle's albums are in the 50% off sale on Qobuz.

It sounds excellent on a preliminary listen. But I've read mixed reviews of her Chopin. I would ask what you think of it, but discussions like that appear rare in this thread.

I haven't yet heard this disc. But I also got the information about the bad review of this disc in Grammophone. I will form my own opinion. A different execution can sometimes be a revelation, and sometimes it's a useless gimmick.

Her Schumann disc was a letdown for me - she appeared to channel Grimaud, blustering her way through the Fantasie without subtlety or sense of momentum. Some of her earlier albums were allright, from memory.

cheers

EJ

Bach works with her. For some other albums she tries to be special, sometimes exiting as it is a new view on the famous music, sometimes misplaced.
