What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.
The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.
So what are you buying and downloading?

In a way yes - in the ensemble playing there is some very nice highlights. The playing varies constantly between a solo and then floating into the ensemble playing, the solos while not bad are for me the lesser interesting part. But as said the ensemble playing is superb...

Question: I was about to do my first (ever!) music-file download; MQA (Onkyo Music) - 24/96 (FLAC) file. No other file options were avaialble.
Recent comparisons of file formats clearly revealed (to me) WAV the superior format.
Onkyo Music rep. suggested I find/ use a program to convert the FLAC (using format of choice) to WAV ? Knowing nothing about how this works, or more importantly if going from FLAC 'container' to WAV can even be faithfully (bit-for-bit) accomplished, I know not.
Anyone out there with answers ?
Thanks,
pj

Hi Pj,
FLAC is a lossless format. So you can convert this to another format (such as wav) with out losing any information.
Whether you need software to convert from flac to wav depends on your set up. If you have a NAS for instance than you can probably configure the NAS to convert the FLAC on the fly to wav.
If you post this question in the streaming audio section, you will probably receive more response.

Hi Jeroen: Thank you for the reply. And recommendation to post in Streaming area.
I remain surprised at the notion that FLAC is considered a lossless compression format when I consistently hear the superiority of WAV files !?
Mind you, although I'm using a modern capable desktop computer running dB poweramp (CD Ripping) program and Foobar 2000 for playback comparisons (no less on my outboard computer speakers, that although of decent quality, shocks me that I can consistently pick out the WAV file !
Many thanks,
peter
