What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

Steve, having bought a few Cousin Silas a fair while ago, I admit to being a bit lost in the veritable blizzard of releases. Of (say) the last half dozen, which one would you say I re-introduce myself to him?

Hi Nick. To say he has an extensive catalogue would be doing him a disservice as he has something like 185 releases! I see that you have one of my favourite "Time Dwellers" (waag_rel090). I always like to go for some of  the albums that he has released with Kevin Lyons, to me they compliment each other very well. So, "Beyond the Infinite" (waag_rel107) with Kevin Lyons is both recent and very enjoyable as is "The Moorcock Principle" (waag_rel 097) which plays into the sci-fi soundscapes he/they enjoy creating.

His latest self-titled solo album "Cousin Silas"  (waag_rel 105) is really worth a listen, as in the words of Thomas (the waag label owner and passionate advocate of ambient electronica), "Cousin Silas (waag_rel106) is a fabulous return to the ambient soundscapes of his early weareallghosts releases ... there is something of "The Path Between The Trees (waag_rel 001)" in this self-titled release ... a wee sprinkling of magic that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end." I would agree with that it is a good album and perhaps a place to start with your reacquaintance?

I hope this might help pinpoint a few you might like because as you allude to he has a truly vast body of work that I am sure I will never have the time or inclination to fully discover...
