What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

Umbra (DiN45) by ARC

From Bandcamp in FLAC 16/44.1 and MP3 320

I've just joined the B&W Society of Sound and subscribed for a year (£33.95) for which you get a couple of albums a month plus access to their current download section, al at high res. Good for classical and jazz, some nice odd stuff like the Radiophonic Workshop album.

The Egocentrics - Mystic Initiation

Romanian stoner rock. Heard some on Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone last week (from the album Love, Fear, Choices and Astronauts) and liked it but getting their official albums is pricey, so this Bandcamp demo disc will do until I can snag the proper ones cheaper.

Also on the menu today:

Starving Daughters - We Were Eggs

One of Steve's recent plunders. Tricky to categorise (which is a good thing), but it has an old-fashioned psychedelic anarchy about it. Got a few tracks into it and it insisted I buy it.

Monobody - Monobody

A Denis A recommendation. As I mentioned in the Listening thread it reminded me of the jazzy prog of National Health.

It's a bit "out there" Nick, I'm still not sure about it but it does take me back to the days of the late 60s when  there were all sorts of UK and Californian bands that were trying out various psychedelic stuff like this.

Just listened to it again - it's definitely out there, and definitely a 67/68 instrumental vibe, and with the speech samples the overall effect is similar to an Amorphous Androgynous album.

Really enjoying it!

I joined for a year, downloaded some stuff, but didn't renew.  The pace of additions that I really wanted was too slow for me.  It seems like something one might join every other year perhaps.
