What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

Please watch also the other album is just an extract - if you like the music get to the download link for the full album, which is not on bandcamp and is more expensive....

The new Sound Liaison piano trio download is lovely. Highly recommended.

Witmer Trio

The real challenge for a musician
once he has mastered his instrument
learned all about harmony and rhythm
absorbed the music of the masters that came before him
and found his own voice
the real challenge is one that in itself sounds very simple
place yourself in complete service of the music at hand
and play only what the music is asking for
but as every musician will tell you this is the most difficult of all musical challenges.

So many musicians these days are emphasizing the improvisation at the cost of the melody, with the result that .....''you got no melody to remember, and no beat to dance to''...

Well done EJS I have become very fond of old and ancient lute music in the past year or so and am thoroughly enjoying the journey. I'm sure you know other lutenists but if I could point you toward Hopkinson Smith in particular and Nigel North then you have a wonderful trio of excellence when you add in Paul O'Dette.

Thanks! Still new and have not heard Smith or North; I do however have a record by Jakob Lindberg, who is also excellent.

EJ these are a few that I had in mind, you can try them over on Spotify and Deezer, they are superb . Steve

I like it, but it's a bit orchestral especially the main piece, so I suggest you first dip in to see if you like it before buying. Might not be for everybody.

Me too, the high res version from Quboz is great quality. The album feels a bit patchy for now-but will grow I suspect.
