What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

I got this complete 24/96 studio edition series a couple of years ago on Qobuz a great bargain for the eight albums.

Yes it was again a bargain, like quite often with Qobuz. They sometimes also make mistakes in the initial offering which sometimes leads to surprising initial pricing.

24/96 - From Qobuz

If it helps anyone else who purchases the same - I had an annoying issue that having put it on my NAS (running asset) the naim app was seeing it as 2 different albums (with tracks randomly split across the two). After much head scratching, re copying / rescanning the nav etc, I pulled the file into music tag editor and found some of the album was listed as Deluxe - some wasn't. I deleted Deluxe from all tracks and all is now correct viewing in the naim app. I've bought quite a lot from Qobuz and it's the first time I've had an issue with the meta data.

Will actually have a listen to the music now!!

Qobuz seem to have a lot of odd things with the way they pack & edit,   whats_all_the_underscores_about_in_the_album_& track_titles,  then why have the -SMRP thing at the end of each???       I always end up fiddling around if its a Qobuz

Nice album tho'   .......  I bought mine from HighResAudio - deluxe version 24/96 for £14  .........  no Qobuz editing required

Hi Mike, Yes, I've wondered what the SMRP thing is. I used to edit all the meta data on a Qobuz album (as a matter of course), however a while ago I just tried putting an album on my NAS as is and have not had any issues doing that way, until today.

Listening and enjoying it now.... and who says playing a CD is easier

It's just occurred to me that it would be useful to put hyperlinks against albums we have purchased / downloaded - would this contravene forum rules??

That sounds like a better price - it's £20.46 on Qobuz. The trouble with high res audio is that it's all in German, and while I can vaguely read French, German is a mystery. Hmm.

There is a language selector on the top banner  ........  Sprachen: Deutsch | Englisch  ........... Languages: German | English

Thanks Mike! It was something of a tortuous process, with the website responding really slowly, and the download manager not showing progress and then flagging errors, but it seems to have downloaded ok.

I got it for £11.66 with sublime membership - so I think I have to pretend I didn't see the Highres Audio price and keep telling myself the sublime description was really worth while for all the great discounts I get..... Still at least I make good use of the streaming service..... oh, no, I have a tidal subscription for that because of the naim app integration.....

The HRA web has been painfully slow for a while,  I found it easier to download a zip rather than use the Download Mngr,  once it starts its not bothered by the DLM errors.  That said when the website works properly its one of the best.

Anyone noticed the forum is a lot slower uploading posts - not sure but believe its since the last Hoopla maintenance session
