What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?
Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014
With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.
The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.
So what are you buying and downloading?

Folklore by Big Big Train
Bandcamp FLAC & MP3 320
"This is the 24 bit 48khz audio version of Folklore featuring the same track-listing as the double-vinyl album release which includes two additional tracks and a total running time of 80 minutes. The download includes a PDF copy of the full album booklet including artwork, photographs and lyrics."
Download from Bandcamp FLAC & MP3 320
"Goodbye to the Age of Steam is Big Big Train's first album, originally released in 1994 on the GEP label. Goodbye to the Age of Steam has been unavailable for many years and was re-issued on 18th April 2011.
To ensure the best possible audio quality, Goodbye to the Age of Steam has been re-mixed by Rob Aubrey from the original master-tapes. The re-issue includes new artwork and a 12-page booklet with lyrics and sleeve-notes. The re-issue also features three bonus tracks; an extended version of 'Losing Your Way', a previously unreleased track called 'Far Distant Thing' (taken from a 1993 radio session), and 'Expecting Dragons', a recording by the current BBT line-up which re-works some of the musical themes from Goodbye to the Age of Steam."
Just 7 euros on Qobuz, so not even doubting for 1 second..., 24/96....
The Eagles, Their Greatest Hits, on original vinyl, because it was the next LP in the test pile. Like visiting an old friend

I've been enjoying the way it all sounds dajay and I'm pretty sure that it is an upgrade to the presentation but since I have only been listening to music new to me over the weekend it's hard to make any real comparisons just yet. I will continue during the week with music more familiar and reply over on the Audirvana plus audio units thread later in the week.

Fred Und Luna - Hörproben
Fred Und Luna is Rainer Buchemüller, who makes a kind of light, toytown Kraftwerk/Cluster-style neo-Krautrock. His albums are all "Name your price" on Bandcamp.
Thanks for the steer Nick, I've had a quick scanning listen to their albums and like their sound so downloaded these in FLAC & MP3 320:
