What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?

Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014

With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.

The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.

So what are you buying and downloading?

Jay Tausig's latest release (today). More of his well executed sometimes experimental, psychedelic / space rock / krautrock style.

As ever its available to try on bandcamp here.

Qobuz 24/48

Psychedelic instrumentals courtesy of 3/4 The Heads and 1/4 Monster Magnet. There are actually two versions of the album here - one recorded (as if) at 45 rpm and the same again at 33 rpm (i.e. slowed down). And it works. Wonkily, as you'd expect :-)

Oh, and it's 100% ace.

Here's a track at proper speed i.e. "45"

It's on Bandcamp too, but I don't know what quality.

Enjoyable thanks, nice to see Bridget Bardot on the cover too!

I got this from Qobuz today. It's a set of four albums of this excellent trio. I'm assuming it's mispriced as it's for sale at £6.47, so if anyone is interested, grab it while you can.

Leonard Cohen 'You Want It Darker'  High Res 44hz from Qobuz. And blooming brilliant it is too. Two plays and already might be my album of the year.

You are lucky, it's 22 euros for me, and as I have already 50pc it doesn't make sense for me...

A band new to me, yet another fine Swedish group. Scandinavian musicians seem to be producing so much good progressive, rock, metal and psychedelic music.  Linked here.

The Luck Of Eden Hall - Victoria Moon

If you like Psychy Pop, in a Raspberries, Klaatu (down Gort! Down!), Jellyfish, Bleu sort of way then you might like this lot from Chicago. Every tune a pretty great hook, mellotron added tastefully etc., etc.  Even a hint or two of Dukes Of Stratosphear.

And they sound like this really:
