What is the latest music you downloaded, what resolution and from where?
Posted by: Stevee_S on 13 January 2014
With more music being downloaded I thought it might be interesting to see what forum members are buying and from where.
The news that HD Tracks are soon to open an online UK store means that more choice is going to be available to us. The variety and quality of downloadable music we can choose from is expanding, MP3 to 24bit studio Masters at 192kHz and beyond.
So what are you buying and downloading?

This a stereo version originally released in 1962. Downloaded in 24/96 for a very reasonable £3.19 from Qobuz.

Good find - how does the sound compare to a ripped CD version (all I have currently) ?

No idea as yet Yeti' I just took a punt on it, I'll add a comment when I get around to playing it.

Thanks Steve
I think I'll take wager on it too, as my own CD is not even the remastered version (IIRC).

Yes do keep us in the loop, so far I ignored these ones as I though they are low quality ...

Greg Ward: Touch My Beloved's Thought.
Recommended (in the latest Jazzwise) as a 'companion' to Black Saint and The Sinner Lady by Mingus, which I can't hear as yet.

Didn't find the great deals thread. But Qobuz has now a collection of box sets at reduced prices, I think interesting for a lot of us. Have a look....

"The Early Years, features two amazing long-form sequencer pieces circa 1982. “Harmonia Mundi” recorded live by Steve Roach and Swiss-born electronic musician Thomas Ronkin, around 1982-83 in The Timeroom, Culver City, California.
This is completely analog and pre-midi. All the sequencers were synchronized by a master analog clock. We set up on a Saturday morning and created a variety of sequences and patterns for a few hours. After a triple espresso, our mutual passion for this form of music drove the session towards the heart of the sequencer universe."
