Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.
Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.
Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:
I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Kings Cross perchance J?
Yep. What a transformation!
Very nice bokeh and light there J...
Thanks Kevin

I love owls. Stupid factoid for you...
"Owl" is one of not-very-many words in English for which there are two French words: Hibou and Chouette.
It depends on whether they have visible 'ears' (actually the tufted feathers, or aigrettes, resembling ears) (A hibou does and a chouette doesn't).
Every edition of the Oxford Hachette English-French dictionary ever printed has this the wrong way round!
Most owls without visible ears are Barn Owls, which in French are "Chouettes effraies" which literally means 'scary owls'. They often fly over little countryside roads during the night, and people used to believe they were ghosts, because of their white faces and bellies.
(Harfang is a synonym for Snowy Owl in both languages)
Sorry. I really should get out more.
Here you go Rod, another owl pic:
Went for a walk yesterday and I decided not to take with me a telephoto,in reason to have a light weight.I had my 28mm mounted so I got as close as I could to these gooses:the pic shows them after attacking me...

Be careful getting involved in dangerous sports !!
Got a Goose for Christmas did you? Lucky boy.

She did have a boyfriend and a sister, but they were both somewhat camera-shy
It is! Thanks Steve.
Not really a nice photo at all. Some of the houses in Whitby being slowly dismantled by hand after subsidence took their front gardens away. I really don't hold much hope for that whole hillside in Whitby.
Tony
No photograpic credit for this one, but a professional photographer here in Christchurch has posted a few photos he took after a "red zone" fly-over.
Please note that this is of the CBD only where there are still buildings being dismantled.

Tony,
this is a nice photo, because it captures the moment. well done
interesting how there is no obvious means of access to the roof area, and the guys not wearing any fall arrest protection. maybe you should post this on the H+S web site
I sense a theme!
