Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Er, thanks for the comments.
The body is just a 40D. More than good enough for me, but the ex-girlfriend did say the shutter was noisy from 20 feet away, so you never know.....
Oh, and I just couldn't capture a good photo of the peregrine falcon in flight. Just when I thought I had it the thing would turn! Next time.

Nice. I have an older 80mm to 200mm f2.8 Nikkor that the whale shot was taken with. I use it a lot. I've also just picked up a new 400mm f2.8 VR Nikkor which is a handfull to say the least. It does the job, though...

Whatever it is swimming in that photo... I'm sure I bought her a drink in King's Lynn in 1986!

Thanks for the info' Tony.
Camera upgrade temptation is taking hold! Eek

You will note from Tony's information that he has a budget camera body and top quality lens.

Provided you are happy with the metering options and the sensor on your camera, in my opinion the two most important things (apart from a creative mind!!) are a thorough understanding of the camera and lens controls plus the quality of the optics.

Source first and all that.

Interestingly, in my opinion, I have never developed as thorough an understanding of any of my camera bodies as my first SLR - an auto only Pentax MV!! To use it creatively you simply had to know it inside out!

Peter,

To be fair to the 40D, it's usually described as a semi-pro body. The 450D is the budget model, with the new 1000D now appearing 'under' that.

I might even be on an upgrade path here, as a nice 1D body would make full use of the lens but I just can't warrant the expense for what is still a hobby. I don't think $1400 of sales last year puts me in the pro market!

This is untouched, straight from the camera. It's the only useable image of the peregrine.

Oops! Sorry Tony, I miss-read - my comments were based on the incorrect assumption that I had read 400D - the missing zero is rather significant!! Red Face

OK but unfortunately the weather was against us. Sally liked the fact she has incorporated the Bay and GG bridges!

Just to put the eagle owl's size in perspective....

The girl said that it could easily crush a lamb's skull. Nice.

Very, very cool. The whale shot is astonishing. We saw some good Orca breaches but I was never fast enough.

I once got chased by a stallion over a field. (I think I then did the 100m in 7 seconds. Winker )

I was chased by a horse when I was a kid as well.
Been afraid of them ever since.
Afraid of clowns too, although I've never been chased by one.... Roll Eyes
