Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Sniper,

Our winter pictures just don't have the vibrancy compared to yours. I've forgotten what warm sunshine feels like. -6 degrees tonight!

Nice pics.

Paul,

These two examples were side by side in an East End car park. Luckily the car park was nearly empty when I came across it.

-6 is jolly unpleasant in the UK. I have a student who lives in Siberia where it has recently been -41 this video was shot in the same city - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxnOmhDTSKw

NB - the water in the pan was HOT water and immediately turned to snow when thrown off the balcony

Thanks for the comments on my pics - the first two other than being cropped are straight out of the camera with no saturation boost.

We hit the beach at 8.30 for full English breakfast then sat and watched the parade pass by - this was a small local affair - a larger, crazier parade takes place next week.

9am on the beach

Then all this kicks off....

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Here is a group shot. These girls are 17-18 except for one who is 14.

Nice sunstars EJ.

I hope you're not suggesting those stars are the result of photoshopping? This is an out of camera JPEG with no editing done whatsoever. I'm actually quite pleased with the flare-resistance of this lens, I tried but couldn't make it more obvious than on this shot - which was taken through a UV filter and at moderately small aperture. The vignetting is slightly more objectionable, but felt it worked well for this shot.

Cheers,

Not at all EJ. Sunstars are a great feature. The best are usually obtained with straightedged diaphragm blades and small aperture. The number of rays is determined by the number of blades.

This pheasant has taken up residence in our garden, along with his harem. He's a shy boy in front of the camera but he's a real show-ff round his entourage, strutting about like lord muck. he is a handsome chap though -

Not a "good" picture in terms of colour, sharpness etc, but if you work in The City, you might recocnise your office window.
