Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.
Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

I'm having a few days up here in the Lake District, and the weather's lovely - deep blue skies really emphasising the snow-capped fells and throwing them into sharp relief.
I thought it'd be great for some lovely photos so I packed a large assortment of lenses & made sure the batteries were fully charged in both cameras. Inevitably one tends to leave some small piece of equipment behind; it's difficult to plan for all eventualities. I do wish I'd packed the cameras though. B*gger...
HaHa. Round objects..!

Waiting to see your pics then,Tony!
Nice
The fog created a lid over the Oslo area last night. Above 300 meters the view was amazing.

Nice pic, do you go up there especially to take that or do you live that way Chalshus?
Jason
I worked up there that night. Live under the lid.

Chalshus, do you know of any other Oslo dwellers on the Forum?
Jason
I have two cousins, who live in Gråkamveien, and that would be well above the cloud in your picture. I was last there in 2002.
I am half Norwegian and my mother was born in Fredrikstad, many years ago now!

PS: The very first post on this thread shows Skurdalen, which has many family cabins beside. My great-great grandfather Carl Oscar Rasmussen originally bought the land and fishing rights in the 1890s. I want to return to Norway for a holiday this year if it is possible.
A photo of Carl Oscar from before 1914. Not a bad photo really, to keep on topic!

Very nice photo George, he was a very handsome man.
I was thinking of getting some Oslo members together for a beer/wine/port and music night, hopefully not too heavy on the Naim but more centred on music and good chat.
Then when you are in town you can join the group...if it ever arises, just thought of it an hour ago, lets see.
Jason
Dear Jason,
It is strange, but I have always stayed with grandparents, my aunty, or cousins when I have visited Norway, and actually have barely had the chance to meet non-family Norwegians socially. Your invitation is very kind.
I plan to ride my cycle from Oslo to Skurdalen for a week with my aunt "in the mountains" and then ride back. A huge cycle journey for sure, but one my grandparents did in 1946. And they camped the night as the journey is two days on a cycle ...
So let us see if this can happen!
If I confirm a time it is most likely in September. And it will be written about in the New Carlton thread, but I'll use the Ambrosio cycle as it is better for hills!
ATB from George
Ah yes, good for you!
A mix of English and Norwegian friends get the train to a station situated high up in the mountains above Flam from Oslo every September. They take a tent, hire a bike and cycle up there on those beautiful mountains for a day, cycle down to Flam itself and relax in a pub the following evening. It can get cold and its not really serious cycling, more for the scenery for these guys. I have not yet done it but plan to this year.
Jason
p.s Have you managed to see any of my film recommendations?
A few years back we stopped off in Flam for a day. Took a train ride up a mountain, past some maidens dancing in a stream, then walked back down the mountain road to the harbour. a beautiful, relaxing experience.
Cheers
Don

Jason.
Pylod is another user who lives in Oslo. There are others too, but I have to say I don't remember.
Im seldom on the hifi forums (this (due to the awful layout) , pink fish and some norwegian message boards.) anymore.
A friend of mine in Sram Test Track near Mijjas, Analucia, Spain last week.
This forum really shows the potential of photos. Go 640x480!
