Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Not one of mine (sadly), but a favourite shot by Sir Norman Parkinson, whose centenary we celebrate today.

There are some excellent photographers posting, but Jamie's style is also instantly recognisable.

Jamie,

A lovely photo. I wish I had taken it. What can you tell us about it?

Posted on: 30 April 2013 by JamieWednesday

Thanks Sniper.

What would you like to know?

Is it straight out of the camera or enhanced in any way? What settings did you use?

Posted on: 01 May 2013 by JamieWednesday

It's pretty much straight out of the camera, out of habit I sharpen and DeFine but basically it's all there as was.

Sunshine behind me, dark clouds in front give me the contrast. I was trying to capture the colours of the trees/reeds, especially the light on the reeds, the swan was a stroke of luck but when I saw it coming, I had to have it! I wanted it to be part of the bigger picture though, not the focus. And the bugger was swimming to me at a rate of knots so had to be quick.

The lens was wide open at f2.8 which is not it's sharpest (and is manual focus only) and clearly lacks big depth of field but I think it then gives a kind of 'painted' aspect to the landscape type pictures I take with it and frankly is sharp enough...Very high speed then, I think it was 1/4000.
