Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

I use Aperture for Mac. I like it OK, but it is a bit limited in some areas. For example it doesn't use layers. On the plus-side the editing and adjustment are totally reversible as the original image remains unaltered - it just saves the metadata that defines your adjustment decisions.

I used to use Paintshop Pro and really liked it. I plan to do a trial of Photoshop.

555, I've adjusted my monitor, but I don't do it on a regular basis.

BigH, I've no idea about other softwares, as I've never used any.

As I am sure you know, that pic is a big fat fake! Pretty funny though. The pic came with the caption right? Nonetheless that is not SA but my very own SF , just outside the bay with the golden gate bridge in the background, and the shark is photoshopped in. As for the British Navy, and Nt'l Geographic, not either. The military do ditch and recovery excercises like this all the time in and around the bay. And not that there arent any sharks, including big whitey, I just happen to know that this aint one of them. If you look closely in at the pixels you can see the superimposition. Thanks for sharing though!! Hope you are well. Next time you come I will show you some sharks! We had our beach closed for the Labor Day week due to a sighting!!

Goodwood Revival Tony ? So jealous.

No! It was the Richard Burns Memorial Rally at RAF Marham, Norfolk. It's on again tomorrow. The 2008 SWRT Impreza is car No.1, driven by Markko Martin. Not a bad little day out.

Scotty

Did you fly solo or tandem? I've done the tandem experience over the Austrian alps, an amazing experience. I would like to learn to do it solo, but it's quite a commitment. Having said that I'm currently learning rock climbing and am booked in for a mountaineering course in Scotland this winter, so maybe paragliding next summer, who knows?

gary,
solo ? i wish......by all accounts you cant go solo unless you go through lengthy training and also for insurance reasons they wont allow it.
so i went in tandem with a good experienced flyer but you get to enjoy the same excellent view during the flight.

Keeping to a mountain theme, here's some beech trees growing on a pretty steep slope in Tuscany. It was a suprise to see just how well they were growing out of the cracks in the rock!
