Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.
Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!
George
Interestingly written by Frank Muir and Dennis Norden and only later taken on by Peter Sellers (who was a North Londoner). They are also responsible for "Infamy, infamy...They've all got it in for me..." later used by Ken WIlliams in Cleo.
I remember this extraordinarily long monologue by Frank Muir about going to school in Leyton and it was all to get to the punchline about how he was educated in E10.
So there you go.

When I started this thread about five or more years ago, I hoped it would produce a few nice pictures, much better than my own.
After five years the pleasure continues, but please let's keep the lovely thread as it has been since the start!
ATB from George
PS: My pictures were taken on a 35 mm fixed lens [manual focus ranger-finder style] Canonette, bought knew by my grandmother about forty or fifty years ago. She was much better at it than me!
Glad to know you Agricola, even if on web Forum!Nice purpose starting this thread five years ago.

George, this has long been my favourite thread on this whole forum. Thanks for starting it, long may it continue x

And here's the EP that "Gateway to the South" (which is extraordinarily unfunny) is on. I have it framed in my front room.
Rackkit, I think the cropped shot makes it look like a predictable twee reflection. The sun crop gives it a deeper third dimension and more area for the pic to draw you in.
Hmm, maybe you're right but it's always interesting how people can view things differently. I think i'm a symmetry type of guy. ;o)
What's your area of work BTW?

People do indeed view things differently. I have a friend with 10,000GBP plus worth of Nikon D3 and lenses and he is completely scathing about my photos as if the way he sees things is the only way and yet I have never seen a photo by him that was anything more than tedious. Who writes these damn laws that say we ALWAYS have to do it this way or that? There are always exceptions to the rules. Personally, I welcome any constructive criticism but arrogant dismissive scorn is seldom the way to help anyone. He told me that one of my photos was hideously over saturated and looked like a cartoon but it was straight out of the camera - so what the fook does he know anyway and how much of his boring work has he actually sold?
This is the best thread in the rubber room in my opinion and people here are typically very congratulatory and enthusiastic about each others posts which is rare I think. I hope it does not degenerate.

Sniper. They would have to be some man to criticise your work.
The photos i've seen you post on here are stunning images
Only complaint i have is that of the green eyed monster !!

That's a great shot ewemon. I like the sun in the frame.
If I was being super critical, I would say the overall colour is a little overdone. Perhaps too much cyan.
I'm only critical on great shots.

Sniper, I take it that the arrogant dismissive scorn you are referring to is your friend's. If not, read my comments above in blue, it's quite obvious that they are polite and constructive. Also, "I'm only critical on great shots" is my polite way of saying your shot is great, but if I had to change anything.........."
If you do a search on this thread with my name, you'll see that all my comments have been congratulatory (usually Jamie, because I think his shots are very good).
Unfortunately, Kevin-W has degenerated this thread into personal abuse (not for the first time), because he obviously doesn't understand how to interpret the written language and fails to keep his temper under control. I could have asked Richard to remove his rude and aggressive posts, but it's best to laugh at them.
This thread will only degenerate if people keep bringing the subject of degenerating up! Post pics and expect comments about them. If you don't like comments, don't respond or don't post pics.
And Rackkit, please don't feel some people don't want to see your crops, etc.. It's good to play with images and discuss changes.

I was indeed referring to my friend
Yep, nice one G.
Thanks. G
