Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Yours is really excellent. Picked from 57,000 photos, no less. You should be very proud. Well done.

Jamie, you are the king. We are all going to mention that we know you.

AFAIK it shouldn't make a difference whether you have a free account or not - Yahoo got rid of Pro accounts (except for those members who already had them and wanted to keep them going).

Try this - go to the pic you want to share, on the right underneath you'll see a little box with an arrow. Click on that and choose "Grab the HTML/BBCode". You'll be offered a range of sizes - Medium 500 x 331 (landscape) or 330 x 500 (portrait) works best on this forum. Copy that code.

Then, create a new reply in this thread. Click the HTML option on the right and paste the code in. Then click update. The pic should then become a live link in the post. Anyone clicking on the pic will then be taken to your Flickr stream where, by clicking on the three dots on the right, they will be able to view the shot in a variety of sizes - depending, of course on the size you originally posted in Flickr.

Excellent thanks Kevin. Your advice there should be a sticky somewhere (unless it already isn't). Bet I forget the next time.

Don't think it is - I'll ask Richard to make one, I must have typed that advice out a dozen times so far this year!

Out of interest, did you use HDR at all in the picture above?  If you did, you've done it extremely well and subtly - many people ruin perfectly good pics through the injudicious use of HDR processing.

I like the rather scary-looking "alien" chick on your stream as well.

Congrats Jamie,well done!!You deserve it.

Kevin, In Photoshop, I used a little highlight control to bring the top leaves back in and a little shadow control to bring out a little detail in the front fallen log.

Here's a crop of the shot, showing the movement of the grasses/trees/water against the sharp static subjects. There's probably a little "greying" in the blacks due to using 3 nd filters to reduce the exposure time enough to show movement.

scotland 984 crop The Blue Tit chick was only a day old. I have a camera in a bird box linked to my tv and have been lucky enough to watch them every year for 7/8 years now.

What was the entrance to St Bartholomews church in Smithfields (smoothfields). It survived the reformation, the great fire and subsequent orders to pull down ant surviving wood/wattle/daub and thatched buildings.

Some one covered the building with thin tiles giving the appearance of brick. It was not till 19th century when tiles started to fall off did someone spot the original half timbered building seen here.

Yesterday Monday 3rd Sept,we did a walking tour from St Pauls about Clerkenwell and very good it was too.

Congrats jamie. Good effort. Did you ever compliment me on any of my photos? I want to be able to tell my friends that a famous photographer liked some of my work. I will vote for you.

Haha, sure Sniper though they're usually smothered in jealousy for your surroundings..!

I've come back from my hols today so I've been able to have a proper look. I think there's some  good pics there. I like the 'Feeding Frenzy' one, I think that or 'When Feathers Fly' will win... Although I think some of them have been chosen as nice pics rather than representing The Living Landscape (!)

I dunno. He looks unspeakably evil to me. Those eyes. The unnatural skin colour. The vacant stare. But then again, children of people I don't know always look evil to me.
