Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

One of our customers took a PA28 G-BTKT to Gatwick to get his licence/logbook updated quickly.

Cost him £850 to land, park 4 hours and depart.

Probably double that now - but i'm saving up for a Sarum TA cable..................

I can see why...

It is certainly an interesting image.

Just some suggestions...

I think the composition would be stronger if you cropped about half (perhaps even more) of the dark area at the top. This would remove "uninteresting" plain black, and make the overall aspect ratio more interesting. I'd also think about a crop from the bottom to remove the lower, right-hand side darker detail (that I find distracting). You'd get a simpler image that might be stronger.

If anyone hasn't looked at it full-sized in Flickr, I'd suggest you do so. There is a lot of detail not apparent in the thumbnail on the Naim site.

Thanks Winky, I did actually do a 'middle' crop too, which does make for a more strongly focussed image but somehow the full feathers gave me more balletic imagery and on balance I preferred the half black/half white.

Then there was a very personal thing in that it was taken with the 7D not my 5D and I much prefer the IQ from my 5D on crops and it maybe only me that sees it but I do...When I can get my daughter off my PC, I'll post it.

Dear Jamie,

Would you post the un-cropped version?

If that is not an unfair or unreasonable request.

I think it is an intriguing image!

Hi George, the 'original' is the uncropped version...

The crop is below

Dear Jamie,

I like the original.

It is half black - half white ...

And the unsettling darker parts cropped away bring an engmatic quality to what is a fascinating and enigmatic image!

Me at Morkgonga two weeks ago.

Was doing a three day expedition through the forests north of Oslo on bike with a good friend. (Surly Fatbike).

Is your friend happy with that name?

Hmm, that came out a bit wrong. His name is Sverre.

Posted on: 28 October 2013 by JamieWednesday

Sverre is Norwegian for Surly Fatbike..?

Reminds me of a chap I know,  Jean-Alain, which is apparently French for smelly bloke who doesn't wash as much as he should and fancies himself as a ladies man but really he's a bit of a git.

Great shot. What a place.

But what's the deal with fat bikes? I get that they would be useful in snow or sand, but on forest trails...why?
