Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

When you are in deep SHIT, say nothing and try to look like you know what you're doing.

(Not my quote either).

Dear Christian,

I as trying to remember what the proper quote to go with it was, as it got sent to me out of context this week.

Ages ago I had it send to me you the quotation you make and it all adds up a nice smile!

After a major amount of burnishing and degreasing, the Carlton looks much more respectable!

Off course I have to rebind the handlebars ...

You'll be showing them a clean pair of wheels now George. It's looking splendid.

Dear George,

I will rebind the handlebar on Monday, as it would be both cold and very uncomfortable like that now!

But it is amazing how much crud there was on the weeks and cogs, and in all the awkward places round the bottom bracket and so on.

She gleams now - like an old clock!

I am begining to think the places where the chrome has flaked on the forks don't matter as the metal underneath comes up nicely anyway. It seems remarkably proofed against rust, and it polishes up very nicely. Seen battle and survived sort of thing ...

Now I have the Carlton looking so smart, I will give the Eagle a similar birthday, as it is not a bad old machine if one with a very different feel. In fact there is less work to do with the Eagle as it was done more than once since I had it, and the chrome-work has survived well, even if the places where it has gone have unpolishable rust. Less good tubing than in the Carlton, perhaps?

The Eagle needs a new front wheel as I crashed into a concrete block on the Bromyard Downs [I fell off, which hurt!] a while ago going far too fast down a grass track. It distorted the ally rim, and in straightening it out, I put a small crack into it. Probably I should not be using it, but it has gone a long way since with the crack! Also the braking is lethal as it can bind! Rear wheel braking only on that one till the new wheel comes!

George

I inflicted similar damage on a front wheel many years back - unbeknown to me roadworks had inserted a cycle lane along the side of Saddlers Wells theatre and the new granite kerb didn't get on too well with my front wheel! Thought I'd mention this because I later found out that not only had I damaged the wheel, but the impact had bent the forks back and rendered the frame kaputski!! Perhaps worth you checking the paint around the junction of the head tube with the other frame tubes? Hopefully you're okay - I suspect I was going near 20mph when I hit mine!
