Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Ever find yourself gazing into space while listening? I certainly do on occasion, and we're lucky to have a nice view from the sofa. Here's a technically poor iPhone snapshot of that view this evening - but I kind of like it nonetheless.

For soft focus, I create a layer in PS, apply gaussian blur and adjust the transparency either locally or across the whole layer to control the effect. This shot (which is a nice portrait) appears more blurred than a true "soft focus" to me.

This is an example of the technique I use...

Thanks Winky, never knew that. The shot is a bit blurred because I was using a rather slow shutter speed - in retrospect I should have had the lens wide open at 2.0 (I used 4.0) then I could have used a faster shutter - but my camera is completely manual so sometimes one doesn't always get these things right, especially in challenging conditions.
