Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.
Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.
Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:
I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Do you still need a licence to photograph a Kingfisher?
I believe there are rules about disturbing some wild birds (including Kingfishers) where they nest but if one comes and sits on a branch across the river you’re allowed to take a picture!!!

Hi Jamie! Yes indeed, well spotted. What is the Ecuadorian cutie?
I was in Madagascar last year for a holiday - a thoroughly wonderful place, I heartily recommend it (politically stable [well-ish] now and safe, although expect to witness poverty. The side-effect of which for tourists is that you can help, make a real difference, and of course everything is cheap once you get there. They are genuinely pleased to see and welcome you. Lovely, beautiful and hospitable people and an enchanting island. All the more so if you like wildlife, can tolerate very poor roads, and are prepared to forsake luxury for a few days.
We were delighted to see all of the species of them, including the one (Indri) that has never survived being in captivity and the exceptionally rare nocturnal mouse Lemurs. Although except the one that sadly went extinct because of human hunting). This particular one is called a Sifaka, which - wonderfully - is pronounced exactly as any [puerile] schoolboy would hope it is. We 'saw' plenty of the 'fakas'...
Here is another one, doing his best stoned impression:

Wow Jamie! Incredible capture of space, timing and perspective. Rule of thirds, viewpoint, framing, and the flow of the birds from the focal point into the background of the clouds is outstanding. A potential photo contest winner AFAIC. I wonder how it looks in contrasting B&W.
Thanks Joe.
Yes I need to do some better PP work. It was pretty dark by then so I did some quick n easy boosts to the light when I got home but it does merit some time spent I think and pulling out some of the vignetting.
I did make a B&W conversion, however it looks a little contrived and on this occasion I prefer the more natural, somewhat washed out, image.
