Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.
Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.
Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.
Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:
I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

I went to Duxford yesterday, armed with my iPhone. Who'll be first to name this legendary aircraft?

SR-71 "Blackbird"
If you get the opportunity to go to Cape Town, (world cup maybe) check out Thunder City at the airport.
They have some legendary old war birds from the glory days Lightenings, Hunters, Bucaneers, ++ many are flying, all can be seen & caressed in the hanger, and the owners & air-techs are always around and love to talk airplane
If you have the spare cash, you can get a 1 hr Lightening P2 flight that includes supersonic, low level buzzing of Cape Point and some aerobatic rolls & loops ..... 35kZAR (about the price of a 282)

No thanks. I'll cut to the chase here. Mr Beachy Head hasn't allowed visitors for a while now. I've seen the aircraft a few times, but became suspicious. A current work colleague used to service ejection seats for old, privately owned military jets. He says that the Thunder City jets haven't had their seats serviced since about 1992, and this is confirmed by contacts in Martin Baker.
A few weeks ago a Thunder City Lightning lost hydraulics, and when the pilot pulled the seat handle....... Nothing. I think his last words were something like "I've had it" after attempting to eject three times.
A failed hydraulic component in a 40 year old jet is to be expected. Murdering a pilot because of saving £1200 on seat servicing isn't. I think his Lightnings are grounded, the rest of the fleet still flying. That's criminal.

I hadn't heard about the accident.
I knew Dave Stock, met him a number of times.

Dave Stock was a well loved and highly respected pilot. I just hope the SACAA do the right thing, and that Shell seriously consider their sponsorship of Thunder City.

It's a nice place to live if you don't mind the high cost of housing.

Peter,
Very nicely done... Shooting into the Sun, and getting that composition and depth of field without sillouetting etc. Technically, and visually very good.
