Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

I went, yep, as usual, to an airshow at Duxford yesterday. I took this shot into the heat haze of a taxiing Hunter (Miss Demeanor) and almost deleted the blurry image I saw on the screen! The only'shopping here was to levels, curves and I removed a dreaded sensor spot.

Great pictures Mika. Noticed you are on Flickr. How could I access your page over there, if you don't mind?

Mika;

I took a quick look at your flickr page. Beautiful sets really, but what surprised me is that all those gorgeous pictures were taken with a point and shoot camera! When I first saw the ski pictures, I thought what a damn good sensor his DSLR must have, I wonder what it is? This really proves that the photographer is a million times more important than the camera. Truly impressive.

Thank you for the huge compliment!

I have used SLRs and also one DSLR for takings photos of skiing etc quite some time but at the time started with quality compact Konica C-35 (http://www.thecamerasite.net/07_Viewfinder_Cameras/Images/Konica_C35.jpg) and has been always fascinated by a kind of "street shooting concept" and the ability of capturing the moment by simple means.

Thought that going back to my roots away from DSLRs would make me to work a little bit harder and perhaps learn to take better pics. Still on that path and no regrets..

The camera used for those photos in Flickr is Panasonic LX3, in case anyone is interested and isn't able to check the exif data from the pics.

The LX3 is a wonderful camera with a nice Leica Summicron lens. I have one and I love it. I use it a lot. In fact I take it out far more often than my SLR gear (Canon 1DMk3 and L lenses) which says a lot for it and the fact that the SLR is so big and heavy. Nice pics Mika.

I'd sell all that Canon stuff and get yourself a Leica M9 ;-)

And I'd sell that M9 and get yourself 3 M6s or M4s....! Winker

That's what I might be doing Smile Was in the Leica dealer in London earlier today and I am on the waiting list (they reckon 4-6 weeks). It will be interesting to see when they call me to tell me there is one available to see whether I go for it, but it is highly tempting even though a little bankrupting.

Nice pics. Very impressive. I especially like that vintage Colnago. Mid 80s? Post the pic over on George's Carlton thread. That'll get some jealousy happening Winker.

Yep, mid 80s Colnago Master. It is still little under construction (need new saddle, cork and tubes atleast plus some lov when have time), so might step in to the bike threads with that after few weeks or a month or so.. Big Grin

I bought my first half-decent bike in 1984. Reynolds 531 frame and mid-level Campy components. Those Colnagos were objects of desire to a young guy, just out of University.

Lovely pictures! But I am not bedevilled with jealousy! It would make me so sad if I were!

Look at that with clouds moving behind it fast and you topple backwards. Relativity, innit?
Posted on: 19 May 2010 by u5227470736789439
That is quite true! Even trying to line that photo up, I was feeling that backward toppling feeling! You loose you upright bearing when looking up at that spire. I was further from it than it looked, and even then have failed to catch it upright!
