Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

This is the Arp Schnitger organ in the church of St.Peter & Paul in Cappel, Germany.
It was originally built in 1680 for a church in Hamburg & reinstalled in Cappel in 1816.

I heard it once & yes it sounds just like it looks
The largest flue pipes at top centre is 16 feet.

EJS was a few mS quicker than me.

I must admit that for the life of me I couldn't remember the bloody name. I googled Stainless Steel, twin jet , British aircraft and viola!

Ooops, my mistake!!

Well done ejs. I was like a wee boy, seeing that and a Fairey Delta at the same time. Must return to Cosford soon.

An abiding memory for me hearing that Peter Twiss had gone over a 1000 MPH in the FD2. I was so proud to be British.

Inspired by the bicycles thread... two more wheels but otherwise similar (i.e. made of lightweight materials and doesn't allow me to take any luggage)

Thanks! Contrary to reputation, its use as family car is limited. Smile

Looks like the perfect family car to me, ie no room for the family! Smile

Tony,

I served my apprenticeship with Fairey Hydraulics in the late '80s and there were a few old hands from the time of the FD2 with "interesting" tales including the words "we thought it should work and most of the time it did".

I saw the one at Cosford a few years ago and I am planning a revisit soon.

Howard, yes in Cranfield Lane before moving out to south of Bristol in 1982.

Tony, I started life building taileron actuators before moving into the design office.

My link is that my father in law sold Fairey Aviation it's National Insurance stamps from his Post Office in Brabazon Road. A huge earner for him I might add. They sold up '67.

Howard, I used to park my bicycle at a family friend's house in Cobham Road whilst working at Cranford Lane.

I almost certainly would have used the PO in Brabazon Road at some point.

As a coincidence my current employer runs Boscombe Down where the FD2 set most of it's records.

Nah, the Elise has stacks of space. We've taken ours to Scotland, Spain and France for 2 weeks at a time including full mountain kit.

The Caterham we owned before presented a bigger challenge, but we made it OK. Seen here in the Picos De Europa.

Bruce nice wheels.

Thanks...and built by my fair hand too (assembled really). Sold it after 18k miles with only one mechanical glitch-the wiper mechanism failed in Skye after the 13 day of continous rain, which seemed fair enough really!

The Elise may be a tad more practical but it is not made with such care and attention. i don't have a nice pic of it, must remedy that.

Another pic of the Caterham, here in the Dales.

Great car EJS I really shocked my friends when I drove up in this Focus. I just loved it.

Next summer I'll get the 2012 redesigned Focus hatchback in Lemon Yellow. Can hardly contain myself.

Mudwolf, thanks. The 2012 redesign will be available in summer 2011? I like fancy colors, too, but for my 'regular' car, I tend to stick to the boring blue/grey with an eye on trade-in value.

Here's my lovely little Westfield - a great drive but hopeless in bad weather or when you had to fill up!

I quite like this picture, though my photos are fairly hit and miss!

I think it catches the archaic finesse of the 1905 Eterna watch movement quite nicely.

I miss my old car. I had to let it go due to heavy rust.
