What book are you reading right now?

I thought I'd revive this classic old thread as I couldn't find the original.

I am currently reading Suetonius, 'The Twelve Caesars'.

How about you?

And well worth persisting with, Steve. The trilogy is hugely entertaining; once I'd started I had to devour the lot in a week.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this; the trials and tribulations of coming of age during the 1970s set to a background of industrial unrest at British Leyland  and the IRA's pub bombing campaign. It aso contains some superbly described practical jokes and covers the demise of Prog Rock and the rise of Punk; all in the same afternoon...

Highly recommended to you all.

Richard, I did persevere and finished it but if I hadn't read it at all I don't think i would have missed anything.

The story line merely a standard thriller trope (journalist is killed to stop publishing article/book) and all the extraneous stuff about Salander is just that, stuff. The product placement is blatant and the writing pedestrian (although maybe that's the translation's fault?). The book could a third shorter and it wouldn't lose any of the 'thrill'.

I really can't be bothered with the other two and fail to see what the fuss is all about.

One of the best literary creations of modern times; an evening in the company of Old Bailey hack Horace Rumpole is always guaranteed to please. Particularly enjoyable next to the gas fire with a glass of Chateau Thames Embankment.

This. Wonderful although having grown up in jamaica may have made this very relevent. A wonderful ear for the language and the political sensibilities of the time.

Just finished IQ84. Unfortunately, not his best.

Now, on to The House That Trane Built.

I'm hoping...hoping.

To be fair Jon, it would be pretty difficult to better his best.
Still looking forward to reading it though.

Critique of the Bush administrations foreign policy.  Remembers when wars were fought to protect America's interests, and not subvert them. Got there before Ron Paul ect..
