For me this is highly anticipated. Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden are to release duo album Jasmine on ECM in May.

Lets hope that this album is better than that Seventh Sign effort - what a waste of space that was - and fingers crossed that they go back towards the sound the had on Supernature.

Update direct from Steve Lake at ECM.

Early in 2007, Jarrett was asked to contribute to a Haden documentary ("Rambling Boy") and they played briefly together, for the first time since the 1976 break-up of the American Quartet . A few months later, Jarrett invited Haden to his home studio and they recorded in duo over a four day period. "Jasmine" comprises the material they liked best from these sessions. Emphasis is on standards and love songs, but the overall feel and atmosphere is perhaps closer to Jarrett's solo "Melody At Night..." than anything else in his discography. Intimate, then, and deeply melodic.
The album is being released in May.

Looks interesting. My old boss at work (in the US) used to play piano as a hobby. His sister was good friends with Miles Davis and used to manage his art collection and he was friends with Mark Egan. My boss made a couple of CD's himself and Mark played bass for him. They were never commercially released but were of a good standard.

Just listened to the track "Rocket" from Goldfrapp's new album. I do hope the rest of the album is better because this track sounded like a bad rip off of Van Halen's "Jump" crossed with a Eurovision Contest entry.

Hi Stu,

I did want to like the last album, but it was not for me. I have big hopes that the band may be returning to more synth based stuff with the new album, but as I say above, the synth riffs on track "Rocket" remind me too much of "Jump".

I guess this is the price I have to pay for being a farty over 50 with a good memory for music Winker

Great anecdote. Any idea whether I can get my hands on those unreleased Mark Egan albums. I'm sure it will be great to listen to. Anything with Egan on it is worth a listen.

I have been lucky enough to listen to this album a few times and I have to say that is brilliant.

If there are any forum members left who still consider my recommendations then I recommend this one.

Cheers. I tracked down a link. Might indulge, I've been buying a bit more 'folkish' music recently and my wife likes it too.
