6 LP set release date 7th September -
Currently £70.88 on Amazon ~ hope i don't live to be ungrateful; knowing how poor quality GD vinyl can be, and not such good value for money considering the very short time lengths can be on a box full of so called 'Long Player' record sides. I know next to nothing about this particular set so any dead head experts please advise [while there's still time to cancel] ; )

Hi Debs -
I saw the Dead twice in 1974, in late July. They were well past Pigpen's death, and in fine form. All I know about this Portland show is based on the reviews I've read, but it sounds like it was a rocker. A really good set list, and a very high energy performance.
Like you say, Dead vinyl can be a hit or miss affair. Hopefully this box set will be well done!

Someone I know, who works in the music biz (and who is quite reliable when it comes to these things), told me last weekend that Universal has been working on a Bobbie Gentry box, which will include many rarities, foreign language versions, the late 70s cuts she did for Warner (currently only available on bootleg) and even, it is said, and\ album of jazz standards she did but which has never been heard!
if true, this would be one of the releases of the decade.
The stumbling block, apparently, is Ms Gentry herself. It's not that she's nixed the project, it's the fact that thus far she has proved uncontactable!

Now that's an interesting prospect if it was to come about.

Galasphere 347 - S/T
I'm really excited by this.
Galasphere 347 (named after the iconic 60s puppet series that was way ahead on the likes of Fireball XL5) consist of a veritable supergroup of modern Prog people, led by one Stephen Bennett (once a frequent poster here, collaborator with Tim Bowness & Steven Wilson, Henry Fool et al.), Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, Opium Cartel), Mattias Olsson (Anglagard and many more) and Ketil Vestrum Einarsen (Jaga Jazzist, White Willow, Motorpsycho, Wobbler).
From the lead video, it looks to be old-school Prog and from their combined history I reckon it'll be a belter. Released July 20th.

Ah yes, Space Patrol was my all time favourite sci-fi puppet series, I still occasionally dip into it on You Tube where all the episodes are available...
