Stu.

Does Paul have anything to do with it anymore? I thought the rights to the music were all with big business now (via MJ's estate).

Winky,

I know Paul/Ringo/yoko and George Martin played a big part in OK,ing the 2009 remasters.

I dont no how the Big business side of things work?

Lots of companies involved.

The CDs have sold well in Box sets stereo/mono and on there own all round the world.

The down loads have sold in the millions.

So its time for the vinyl.

I have not had a mail back yet,Just slung another one over.

Will post when i get a reply.

Lambchop: Mr M

Release 21st Feb. I've enjoyed the subtle and rather low-key last 2 albums and the first track I've heard from this new one is also appealing.

Looking forward to receiving the 51 CD boxed set of classical Mercury Living Presence recordings - these were pioneering hi-fi recordings from the early days of stereo and are still unsurpassed.  A large number of classic performances most of which never made it to CD.  I think the orginal LP issues weren't widely available.

Love And Endings is a document of No-Man's powerful performance at the Leamington Spa Assembly on October 14th, 2011.

Using its past as a means of discovering new possibilities, the band's trademark lush romanticism was subjected to a sometimes radical makeover.

Retaining the intimacy and sophistication of the band's studio work while adding an edgy Rock attack absent from much of its recorded output, the material is drawn from all eras of No-Man's music.

The album includes the previously unreleased song, Beaten By Love, which dates from the earliest days of the band.

Love And Endings sees No-Man's core duo of Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson joined by classical violinist Steve Bingham and regular collaborators Michael Bearpark, Andrew Booker, Stephen Bennett and Pete Morgan.

Available in cd/dvd (deluxe digi-pack) and limited edition heavyweight double vinyl (in gatefold sleeve) formats.

Adrian,

I will put money on BS doing another vinyl run?? now they have tested the water and got 300 x £20 in to pay for the first run to be pressed for March release.

If it sounds any good?

It will sell another 1,000 round the world.

I bet a few turn up on sites on Monday for silly money because of the 300?

Stu.

Posted on: 29 January 2012 by naim_nymph

300 is a very low number for a limited amount....

wouldn't have thought it worth pressing that few.

They should have gone for 3000

I wonder how many people purchased more than one copy (?)

Yet anotjer Steve Wilson project soon to be released. This arrived in my in-box a day or so ago. I Have mine on pre order with CD Services - Dundee.

STORM CORROSION is the long-discussed and highly anticipated collaboration between two of the current music scene's most innovative and multi-talented artists: PORCUPINE TREE's Steven Wilson and Mikael Åkerfeldt of OPETH. The pair have been friends since the late '90s, when Wilson co-produced OPETH's revered 'Blackwater Park' album. Over the years, they'd often spoken of working on a project together, but it wasn't until recently that they managed to make something happen, when Mikael flew over to visit Steve in the UK and they ended up in Wilson's home studio throwing ideas around.
That visit was the nascence of a whole self-titled album, written and produced by the pair and mixed by Wilson.
The sound of STORM CORROSION can best be described as enchanting, orchestral, ambient, epic (half the album's tracks clock in around the ten-minute mark) and nothing short of surprising to the new ear. However, the musicians' respective fanbases will be primed to appreciate the new output, with Wilson's recent solo album, 'Grace For Drowning' and OPETH's 'Heritage' having brought them to a logical place to understand STORM CORROSION. This eponymous collection is almost viewed as one side of a musical triangle.
Says Wilson: "If you'd asked me three months ago about the music, I would have said, 'Expect the last thing you would expect.' But actually, now that 'Heritage' and 'Grace Of Drowning' have come out, I don't think it's going to be that much of a shock to people, because it's almost like a third part of the trilogy, in a way. If anything, it's even more orchestral, even more stripped down, even more dark, twisted and melancholic... but it certainly feels like it comes from the same place as 'Heritage' and 'Grace For Drowning', which indeed it does because it was written during the same period."
"Some of the music on this record I think is the most beautiful music I have participated on ever," adds Åkerfeldt. "There's some magical sections on there. Musically I think we've created something earthy, a bit frightening, exhausting, profound and rather intense - All at the same time. I can safely say I don't know any other band or artist that sounds anything like STORM CORROSION. I guess that was also one of our goals, so to speak."
Wilson also said that on the album, Akerfeldt did most of the guitar work, while Wilson concentrated on the keyboard parts and arranging the music. He described it as containing a lot of orchestral parts, and as "Mellow, strange, and disturbing". Akerfeldt has confirmed that the album will contain 6 tracks, with each one being over ten-minutes long.
According to the label's VP, the album is a beautiful piece of work that will appeal to fans of Steven and Mikael's past records, while at the same time exploring new avenues for both artists.
Bet you can't wait!

Sweet Billy Pilgrim - Crown and Treaty

On the evidence of their Borderline gig last monday, this will be good. Now a 6 piece band with a 2nd electric guitarist & keyboards produced a heavier sound. They still have intricate arrangements & now 5 part harmonies. Really looking forward to a proper tour later in the year.
