  • Cedar Walton (piano)

This Speakers Corner, 180g reissue is superb!  Great music, and brilliant sound quality (comparable to the recent Music Matters BN 33rpm reissue series).

Bought this one myself last week. Hadn't heard it for years, still a great XTC-record. Bought mine here  for €12, vinyl mint condition.

Curious to hear his Chopin Preludes No.28 compared to his last Paris Live concert back in 1990.

Elvis Presley. His first three LPs on 180 g white vinyl from Art Of Music (2014). I was surprised to come across this in Half Price Books because it is a 500 pressing edition from England. Digitally remastered, the vinyl is dead quiet and dead flat. Vintage sound to be sure, but the quality is very good.

Record One - Elvis Presley (1956)
1. Blue Suede Shoes
2. I'm Counting on You
3. I Got A Woman
4. One-Sided Love Affair
5. I Love You Because
6. Just Because
7. Tutti Frutti
8. Trying to Get to You
9. I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (Over You)
10. I'll Never Let You Go (Lil' Darlin')
11. Blue Moon
12. Money Honey

Record Two - Elvis (1956)
1. Rip It Up
2. Love Me
3. When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold
4. Long Tall Sally
5. First In Line
6. Paralyzed
7. So Glad You’re Mine
8. Old Shep
9. Ready Teddy
10. Anyplace Is Paradise
11. How’s The World Treating You
12. How Do You Think I Feel

Record Three - King Creole (1958)
1. King Creole
2. As Long As I Have You
3. Hard Headed Woman
4. Trouble
5. Dixieland Rock
6. Don't Ask Me Why
7. Lover Doll
8. Crawfish
9. Young Dreams
10. Steadfast, Loyal and True
11. New Orleans

What's the verdict then Kev?

Bought Eric Clapton and BB King 'Riding With The King' from HMV in Southport just before I travelled back to Brazil. Nice to be able to buy vinyl on the high street again.

Won't get my LP12 back until next week so can't give you a verdict on the records, but the CDs sound good, a big improvement on the Marinos and Diaments.

The extra material is a bit disappointing though - the stuff included is fine, it's the stuff JP has left out that's the problem...

As ever with these boxes, the quality of presentation is absolutely top-notch.

Found a new copy of Dave Gilmours 5 LP box of Live In Gdansk in a book/music shop yesterday here in Rio. Looks like quite hard to find now in UK. reasonable price too which is rare for here. Box had a bit of damage which got me an extra 10% off.
