My latest s/h pickings;

A Bob Ludwig master on the Capitol green label. Very excited to hear this one.

Companion piece?

Original mono Columbia pressing.

Will be my first listen to Zevon live. This should be fun

Japanese pressing in near mint condition, no obi though. Will be interested to hear how this compares to the US release which I always found bass heavy.

Just played my 1990 Warner Brothers pressing. This is the original London label release from 1977. Will see how they compare.

David Bowie - Hours Music on vinyl. First time released on vinyl. Not one of Bowie's best but still worth having on vinyl.

Van Morrison - Enlightenment. Original vinyl. When this came out I stupidly bought the CD. This copy has some light surface noise in places but otherwise a very good sound.

Another LP in the Stones' From The Vault series. This was an absolute steal at just £11.75, and comes with a DVD of the gig and various other extras. Good (if not top-notch) performance and decent SQ (I think the show was filmed/recorded for the BBC):

The guy I bought this off has just delivered it. It's a first press of one of the very best albums of its era (if not all time), The Return of the Durutti Column by The Durutti Column, released on New Year's Eve 1979, and packaged in a sandpaper sleeve (later pressings were clothed in a more conventional Peter Saville-designed cover which used three Raoul Dufy paintings). The sleeves were assembled at Factory co-founder Alan Erasmus' flat by members of Joy Division and A Certain Ratio, working for pocket money.

There's a bit of a story behind this one - I bought this during the Easter holidays in 1980. It got nicked when I was a student, and have been meaning to get another one ever since, as it was the only significant gap in my Factory collection.

Anyway, last month I heard of a guy selling a copy so I went to go check it out. To my surprise the vinyl was pristine and the sandpaper sleeve, while starting to split at one of the seams, was also in incredibly good nick (ie the sandpaper hasn't disintegrated or come away from the cardboard backing). It got it for £180, which is very good, considering the fact that the last minty one of these I saw for sale went for £350.
