What was the last vinyl you bought?

Arrived today in the post:
Adele - 25. Nice bass on it. Ticks 3 times right in the middle of a quiet part of Hello, so will be going back.
Lucky I didn't buy it from Diverse Vinyl hahahahahahaha.
Hahaha.
Last Music Matters 33rpm titles for 2015.

If she keeps the trend, hopefully, it will be another 8 years before she releases anything else.

I can't get past the third song without falling asleep. I believe this is the third album with miserable songs about the same ex, perhaps its time she moved on

Hi kuma, not sure if you will have seen this LJC review of The Kenny Clarke album.

Graham,
No. I have not read it. ( I generally do not read reviews )
But the Golden 8 will be an interesting listen as this is not recorded by Van Gelder. I am not keen on the sound from another non Van Gelder Blue Note ( Dexter Gordon : Man in Paris ) but this is done by engineers. I almost didn't purchase this one as the cover does not have the usual Blue Note look. But sampling a few tunes from the album I like it enough to get the copy.
Us Three is a classic so it's sort of a must have.
btw, did you listen the last Mobley's 'Workout'?
I must have gotten lucky that it is the best sounding Mobley I own!
It is just incredible how quiet the vinyl is.
Kuma,
Agree with you regarding the SQ of the Mobley. This piece of infomation from a much longer press release from MM might explain why!
Music Matters is also very happy to announce important improvements that our close partners at RTI have recently implemented, which will further improve the product we will be providing for your listening pleasure. RTI has recently sourced a vastly improved vinyl formulation, with more lubricants for more silent playing surfaces. The new vinyl will also have improved anti-static properties, further contributing to an even lower playback noise floor.
To take greatest advantage of the improved raw vinyl material, RTI has invested in a new state of the art boiler and temperature control system, which will insure that the vinyl is heated to the most exacting standards required for even flow of the formula while on the press. All in all, better vinyl, better vinyl processing equipment, better quality control. It all adds up to a superb "canvas" upon which we can "paint" with our wonderful Blue Note master tapes! You will hear the difference!

Graham,
Not sure if these use their new vinyl formula. I thought they meant for future release. Do we know for sure if the current release titles use the new processing? Incidentally tho, my Little Johnny C isn't as quiet as the Workout.
JJ Cale Collected - good music once I cleaned all the shards of vinyl off the first record before playing. Shocking condition for a new album, the 2nd music on vinyl album I have problems with. My copy of Leonard Cohen live in London had 12" strips of vinyl on one side.
Received today two LPs from What Records on the DOL label. I've seen loads of these recently, 50s and 60s Jazz at very low prices, typically <£10. I have tried to research the label and there doesn't seem that much around yet. It seems difficult to find anything about the source tapes or masters. There are some people in favour and some against on the Steve Hoffman forum, so I decided to try a couple to see for myself. I chose Bill Evans 'Waltz for Debby' and Miles Davis 'Seven Steps to Heaven', both long time favourites of mine. All DOL discs seem to be on 180g vinyl. The Evans disc is 45 rpm and sounds much better than either of the CD masters I have, although a bit left channel heavy. Miles sounds better than any of the three CD versions I have, but there are a couple of notes which sound a tad distorted, but overall the sound is very good. I might be being more critical than I would be in the case of CD, but I'd be interested to read what others have found with this label.
The last two albums in the present Music Matters 33rpm series. Its not clear as yet if there will be any more releases in 2016.
Graham.
Ditto the above. It would be sad indeed to think there will be no more of these fabulous reissues.
I'm sure (as in I hope) Music Matters will make more

Hi, there is a lot of speculation on another forum regarding "will they won't they" be any more 33rpm releases in 2016 guess we will just have to wait and hope. Just looked back at my old emails from MM and the 2015 release schedule was posted mid Jan so hopefully early in the new year we may have some good news.
They didn't send out the notice for 2015 release till the mid Dec. so we still have hope...
I hope they will redo some of the 45s in the 33s.

VG,
You were right that Glenn Gould Razor & Tie reissue sounds fabulous ( altho not as quiet as MM pressings ) I wish there were more new reissues sounding this good.
OTOH, even tho it's pressed on the same plant Tharaud's Goldberg pressing is noisy and as heck. Horrible QC. How could the production vary this much on the same MPO France.
It's true, sometimes pressing quality varies quite a lot for the same pressing plant There are many reasons for this, let's hope things continue to improve, in my experience everything was much worse 5 years ago, both labels and pressing plants worldwide have been investing huge resources in expanding their capabilities and quality control. Every year I see improvements from all the major players in this business and I think it will get better and better as sales increase and the vinyl economy scales up to justify further investment All we have to do is keep on buying them
I am cetainly not going to keep buying inferoir records. I do think tho, hardware upgrade is sound investment but also they need employees and tighter QC process all around.
A standard is set low these days since the record plant assumes most new reocrd buyers use Crosley turnable.
Anyways, the Sony reissues of Gould was a nice surprised because their last set was awful in terms of sonics and packaging. ( which looked like they ran out of ink )
Wonderful Voice. Soundquality is really good.
Yes, that Samantha Crain LP is beautiful (and 100% analog)
