Wouldn't usually be inspired enough to buy an Ian Dury LP, let alone a whole box set of 8 LPs...

but the present price on Amazon uk really is a present!

£46.94 + free delivery   [price will probably go back up very soon]

If you want to buy it, do so quick - it may be a pricing mistake!

Listened to this when browsing through "What's New" on Tidal and really liked it so ordered the vinyl album.

Now I love it.  On this album, John Moreland sounds like Bruce Springsteen in reflective mood, underpinned by incredibly catchy melodies.  Recommended.

Emma Gatrill - Cocoon

Listen - https://emmagatrill.bandcamp.com/

Emma Gatrill is a multi-instrumentalist based in Brighton, UK. Her debut, 2012’s Chapter I, was a poignant collection of songs based around her then-latest acquisition – the harp. Subtly accompanied by various members of Brighton’s Willkommen Collective, her intricate harp playing coupled with a unique vocal fragility drew comparisons to Björk and Joni Mitchell as well as her friends and co-conspirators Rachael Dadd and Rozi Plain.

By the time the album came out, she’d already played clarinet in Laura Marling’s band on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage, made up part of Broken Social Scene’s horn section on a run of UK dates and toured all over Europe as part of Sons Of Noel And Adrian. Since then she’s been touring and collaborating with kindred spirit Kristin McClement and as a member of Matthew & The Atlas.

Quadruple LP of goodness just ordered from Compost on Bandcamp. Enjoying to the FLAC file now.

"a solid sense of leftfield tracks, punchy floor fillers, ghostly, cinematic, balearic, frazzled, bitter-sweet or mind-shaking hybrid tunes"

Two from the Analog Productions 45 RPM 200g vinyl series.  This is out of character for me but 20% off and free shipping drew me in.

Bought this on the recommendation of Lloyd Walker ( author of the Walker turntable)  who suggested it in his periodic email.

Bought this one on the recommendation of my turntable setup guru, Tom Rothermel (Vinyl Valet).

The Kleos SL should see a workout for Memorial Day.

Both records are very good choice! This album of Masekela is my favorite. The last song "Stimela" is quite impressive. Enjoy the music!

Having bought the original Sgt. Pepper on the day it came out back in 1967 and having a partner who was, and still is, an avid Beatles fan, I thought I must get this issue to mark the occasion. It arrived this morning and on first listen it is certainly different to the recent box set remaster on vinyl and we are very pleased with it. There is much more weight in the bass guitar in a good way and certain strands that were back in the mix on the original come more to the fore and vice versa. The second disc of out-takes is of interest, I particularly enjoyed hearing the backing of She's Leaving Home without the vocals. On such iconic albums that have been with us for so long and which we think we know every little nuance and note always surprise us when a re-mix is produced. The pressing quality in common with all the other Abbey Road Half Speed remasters that I have is top notch. Certainly worthy on a listen!

Milstein+Walter/NYP: Mendelssohn Violin Concerto

I don't particularly care for either this E minor concerto or Milstein, but could not resist to get the world's first Long Playing 33RPM 12" record. Feeling like holding a piece of history! I remembered a few years back, reading about it. (  Classic Records released a 50 year anniversary reissue in 1998 )
Released in 21 June 1948, ML 4001 was mastered direct-to-disc on 16-inch lacquer, packaged in a  manila envelope ( later switched to a stiff cardboard ) with Steinweiss' abstract version of the 78 cover. ( pity they did not keep the same whimsical art ) The MSRP of the first issue was a whooping 4.85$ ( roughly 50$USD today ).

The recording was made in March 1945 at Carnegie Hall.
