Latest charity shop purchases:-

I 'm prety fed up of the F**king forum not deciding to randomly not displaying pictures.

Rush - Vital Signs 12" single

George Benson - In Flight

Steve Hackett - Please Don't Touch

It is not the forum, for once, some pictures have URLs that are contrived to make it difficult for our sites to display them.

AMG is usually kind, Wikipeadia usually works if you use the URL that you get from display liknk in another window.

I'd never really thought of PT has having a halo - he still denies he was influenced by the Pretty Things SF Sorrow when he wrote Tommy. Never understood why he's reluctant to admit he was influence by a classic. Still we won't get fooled again - I like some his songs a lot.

Thanks Guy,

All my pics are sourced from Sloth Radio, most seem to be Amazon, but I'll remember to check where the un-displayable ones are from.

Or failing that, anything by her on vinyl is very interesting imho.

Philips (living baroque) - Handel harpsichord suites is fantastic (mind you - it's great on cd too) and also very enjoyable is the double album with six concertos for 2, 3, & 4 harpsichords with the Staatskapelle de Dresde, copy below has the French cover version...

You may just have to look to see what's around, happy hunting : )

Do you like the harpsichord sound very much?

Deb,

Thanks for the reco.

I don't think I can sit through a box set of harpsichord, but single one by Ahlgrimm might be interesting to hear what you are on about.

Hi Debs,

I am thinking of ordering this from the same seller as you, are they in the States, if so did you have to pay any duty etc?

Also how long did it take to come?

Thanks, Andy.

Hi Andy,

as long as the cost of goods is less than £18 you should be okay...

(If buying from an EU country the import tax charge doesn't apply so you may spend as much as you like.

But the USofA is not in the EU so we need to be careful ; )

I've ordred a few things from perfect_entertainment usa,

always arrives safely packaged in 6 to 10 days time.

and i'm very pleased with my copy of the Smoke Fairies, hope they bring out more albums!

Charity shop purchase:-

Posted on: 25 October 2011 by Richard Dane

I stopped off at Ben's in Guildford for a quick chat on my way back from Dorset yesterday.  He showed me a few nice LPs he'd just got in that day.  One of them was a totally mint early gatefold issue of this.  A US issue but I wasn't complaining.  How could I resist?  Picked up a bunch of other stuff too.  It's official: my "no more buying vinyl" resolutions are showing distinct cracks...

Posted on: 25 October 2011 by BigH47

No, you don't want to buy cracked vinyl!

I try to stay away from Ben's and allied stores as it gets a bit expensive.

2010 Remaster.

Posted on: 25 October 2011 by naim_nymph

Arrived yesterday from jpc Germany...

EMI © 2008 5 x LP box-set (with free download)

Premonition © 2011 double album (new remastered & remixed version)

This is 33.3rpm vinyl [not 45rpm as advertised by jpc]

So if you have a Geddon it will even play at the right speed : )

Okay but it may take a few days for me to get it out the wrapper.... *

(and there is a rumour that a shop called Borderline in Brighton has sold them for 20quid, they don't seem to have a web-site, but it would pay you to buy a copy there asap if you can...)

Debs

* (Edit)

This is on account of me being banned from listening to jazz music on working days - jazz music causes the time to go far too silly fast and puts me in a very relaxed state of mind usually with a glass of red and my feet up on the chaise longue
