Richard, I've been very happy with my Classic Records 45rpm for years and it's far the best pressing of BOTW. Some of the tracks are recorded better than others. Only Living Boy In New York, not only is it one of my favourite songs, it's also recorded beautifully on this album. I know this track very well on my system and so was very interested to find out what it sounds like on this new pressing.
Cut to the chase. This one-step pressing is superb. It's not just a subtle improvement in the highs/lows etc, it's a change of presentation, equivalent to a box upgrade. Instruments much more separated, drum more defined and real, voices more lifelike and more isolated. All making a relatively big difference to the tracks' soundstage. Harmonies much better defined and sweeter. The Classic Records pressing is a touch 'warmer', but this warmth is a bloom that once you've heard the one-step, you realise it shouldn't be there. Also very noticeable is the noise floor is dramatically reduced, so hearing the subtleties of the title track is far easier. Garfunkel's fragile, delicate voice breaks out of the black quiet beautifully. On this track, there are some very faint vinyl ticks on the one-step. I played the Classic Records to see if they were on there too and was struck by how much noise floor there was to hear through, to the point where if there were any ticks, I could only just make them out through the noise. This surprised me a lot, as the Classic Records is a very fine pressing. This one-step process really shows what can be achieved and how much noise is on all our vinyl.
This is one fine pressing.
Brilliant, thanks Count.D. I guess I'm going to have to find out just how good for myself..
Hi Richard, I can't see how to contact you, so I've reported your post with a comment. Maybe you can pick it up there?

Adele is the best for me.
not alone on posting this album, new half speed master, taking it to a demo on Saturday
I thought it was good, the more I listen to it, it gets better and more detail - what a recording - just ordered Gentleman on the back of this
sublime!
St. Vincent - St Vincent.
This is the first brand new cellophane sealed vinyl LP I've bought in the last twenty years, and what a delight it was to open up the wrapper and take out the record and look over the inner sleeve! Listened to it once already and i'm relieved that the heavy 180g pressing is flat, free of background clicks etc and sounds absolutely superb. Epic bass on this album too which is a real system tester.
All on s/h vinyl, cleaned and ready to play...
