Not actually the last vinyl I bought but the first vinyl in many decades.

What do I know about vinyl?  I'm still doing cartwheels around the house due to the initial excitement and so I will not be thinking rationally today and will be unashamedly biased here.  I could not think of a more appropriate way to start back in again but in hindsight I have probably set myself up for major disappointment with anything else I'll listen to after this.

This is very good.  Like a naturally stacked deck of cards it sort of sets the benchmark for me so far.  Very quiet and beautiful black vinyl.  When you can hear finger movement, supple bowing & natural breathing you know this is as real as it gets.  I never had the opportunity to see Janos Starker in concert but he is in the room with me now.  The lower register double stops are to die for; it almost reminds me of a pipe organ but then I am being overly dramatic again.  There is no doubt though to me that everything is very natural sounding and there is no conflict in comparison to what I know and expect from the best cello sound one could imagine.

3 LP's, 180g, Mercury / Speakers Corner / Recording was completed in December 1965 in New York City at Fine Recording's Studio.

I have been looking to buy this Stones boxset at a decent price for some time now and it has just become available (probably only briefly) at slightly over £200 from Amazon (mostly unavailable elsewhere), so I have finally ordered it.

Arrived today from HMV (...it's back on for £9.99)

Very lightweight vinyl that sounds really great, fabulous music and sonic quality.

However my copy is a just little bit too warpy, may need to replace it...

Arrived in yesterday's post via ebay...

Led Zeppelin / Physical Graffiti 2 x LP (Original Release 1975)

I've played them already...

Nice copies, the very light surface noise is far too quiet behind a wall of music to notice.

The vinyl weight is under 140g (French pressings),

and is very clean, and static free, and in new poly-paper inner-sleeves! : )

Outer/inner covers (made in Germany) in ex condition.

Original paper inner-sleeves included in ex+ condition.

No Barcode -  (anyone know when this issue was made?)

£15.99 well spent imho : )

Heard some Ben Webster for the first time a few weeks back at someone's house so I bought this. I'm not usually a jazz fan but I like this a lot, so I've ordered a few more of his LPs....

Having seen posts from people buying the recent reissue of this album I came across a mint 1st pressing (A1/B1) in the record stall at my local market. For £3 I thought I'd give it a punt. No snap crackle and pop, great audio and probably better than the recent reissue at a fraction of the cost.

Released on the RSD.

Ordered!

I've been looking for a copy of this for ages.  All the copies I saw were £100+ but then a new sealed copy came up for £30.  I didn't hesitate for a moment.  The CD issues are good but suffer from loudness war issues.  I'm really hoping the vinyl avoids this to some extent.

Arrived today.  Can't wait to play it.  The whole of side 1 is dedicated to the track, Again.  Kind of like Porcupine Tree with overtones of PF's Echoes...

Arrived in this mornings post from jpc Germany...

These 2 albums sent to me without the new Esperanza Spalding release (which i ordered at the same time) so can only guess they have a delay with supply...

hmmm...  but maybe not at such silly prices...

Posted on: 25 April 2012 by Jono 13

It, and the flip side Leckie remix of I, Travel, are also the best SM tracks from the Sons and Fascination/Sister Feeling Call era which was the pinnacle of their output as far as I can see.

This is slightly biased on my part as I saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon in September 1981 touring the albums.

I went to celebrate record store day last week and picked up 6 sets of vinyl.

Miles Davis - Ascenseur pour l'echafaud (I'm listening now, its great)

EST - 301 also very pleased with this

My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything

Lambchop - Mr M, (not convinced, sounds like Kurt Wagners trying to eat the mike)

Sonic Youth - Dirty Boots EP and 4 tunna bricks ( bootleg )

At the store Symbian Ghost and Soundtrack of Our Lives played live sets. The scaled down, semi- acoustic line up of Soundtrack was the best I have heard.
