Decided to treat myself for the festive period with some more vinyl

21 - Adele - Hopefully sounds better than the CD.

Company - Andy Burrows - My favourite album at the moment.

Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette - One of best albums ever.

OK Computer - Radiohead - another all time classic.

War of the Worlds - New Generation - just because I have such great memories of the original vinyl.

30 No1 Hit - Elvis Presley - Still the king, so why not

I bought Sunken Condos directly from Donald Fagen's website, expecting a US pressing. Instead, I got charged import duty as if it was a US import whereas the vinyl was pressed in Holland and the return address was Belgium! Sounds great but cost me a fortune.

My point is, I am keen to buy this but not sure the best place to buy it from.

Kuma,

I wish it was vinyl.  This is just the Bach collection on CD from Sony.  So far I only have two Gould LP's.  One is the 1955 Goldbergs which is the cover near the top left of the box set and I have the Brahms Intermezzi and both are from Doxy.

Ah thanks. I've got curious since this is a vinyl thread.

Sony is milking as much as they can on Gould's catalogue as there are just so many reissues and box sets. ( and then there is a CBC catalogue plus the bootleg )

How are those Doxy reissues?

For some reasons, those early Columbia Gould pressing are getting $$.

I would love an original 6 Eye Columbia Beethoven Concerto No.1 in mint.

Of course!  Arrgghhh....

I was going to comment on the Pollini, got distracted, came back and forgot where I was.  I'll see if I can't move it to the proper place....

I'm not over impressed with the two Doxy reissues.  They come with a fair bit of surface noise and the piano sounds muted somehow.  Of course, this could be a Gould thing.  In fact, listening to the CD's, some of the pianos also sound quite wretched.

Florestan,

I don't have his Brahms ( it's on my want to listen list ), but I do have his '55 Goldberg variation. I need to listen again but I thought it was decent.

I recently ordered the State of Wonder CD with Sony DSD remaster of both the '55 and '81. I recall when it was released 10 years ago there was a quite a lot of bruhaha about it.

Do tell regarding the Pollini's Testament vinyl.

Do you have it? If so, how is it?
