Arrived today in the post:

Must have.

Damien Jurado... 'Where Shall You Take Me'  Double Album..Currently £8.99 inc free postage from Amazon.

On first listen it's a really beautiful slice of simple Americana. With its  dark, brooding, beautiful music  It's immediately very engaging, drawing you in as softly spoken murmurs of things not right emerge from the sparse arrangements.

My postman handed me my 2 x LP copy less than an hour ago,

i've already cleaned them on the okki nokki,

carefully placed them into nice new poly-paper inner sleeves,

and placed the album by the LP12 for tonights listening.

Sounded very good on Spotify, so looking forward to later : )

Charlie Haden/Chris Anderson: None But the Lonely Heart

The Shins - Live at Third Man Records Direct to Disc

With all the hype of direct-to-acetate I was expecting audio nirvana, but got a decent recording of a very good live performance.  There aren't any other non-bootleg, live Shins albums, so very pleased to have it. Price was about $15.  Over all I'm super satisfied for the price, and the music is great, but I can't hear any benefits of the direct-to-acetate process over other live recordings. Certainly no where near the live performance quality of a Reference Recordings HDCD..... I wish they'd turn their attentions to rock n roll.

Reissue from Demon Records. Excellent SQ. On recommendation from an old friend of the forum.

I was thinking about this one. What did you think?

Queens of the Stone Age - 45 RPM

Pressing is a bit noisy, but other wise sounds like velvet.

Borrowed this one and spent the last hour listening to it. Am really depressed now.

I do like some of her previous material but this one is over 60 minutes continuous , pure folkish moaning.

Almost lost the will to live.

Listened to this last week, original mint vinyl. It's still available out there at very reasonable prices.

Noticed by today's standards, one or two of the tracks are net really PC. Although old people don't usually worry about such things.

Thanks Steve, duly ordered on both your recommendations! mp3 downloading for listening 'til I get the black stuff.

Not normally my type of music, but again bought on a recommendation and it's really good - lovely quiet, transparent pressing :-

Hank Williams's Timeless - his music, recorded by various other folk such as Keith Richards, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash.

I cleaned it on my Moth before playing (as I always do with new vinyl) & I could see the action of the pads sucking off the fluid. Quite interesting! (I don't get out much).

Pre-ordered actually, due out later this month. After the slew of MOFI Elvis reissues I was a little surpposed to see this one is being done by Music on Vinyl.
