Sorry no I haven't. I haven't got a 5.1 set-up but when I go round my bro's at Xmas I will try to give it a spin on his.

Debs
Hi Debs,
You'll enjoy Shake Down. I played my original mono version earlier today. I've ordered the reissue of Blue Matter as my original is a bit crackly and it's a belter of an LP. Unfortunately it's issue date has been set back.
Happy New Year.
Steve
Hi Steve,
it's funny but i ordered Blue Matter same time as the two that arrived here today and was wondering why it didn't arrive with them...
have a couple of Savoy Brown CDs on the way also, so something to look forward to : )
Happy New Year to you also!
Debs
Hi Debs,
I have all Savoy Brown's LP's on original vinyl. Two that I can particularly recommend, along with Shake Down and Blue Matter, are Getting to the Point and A Step Further. I just love Chris Youlden's vocals. He's not on the first album or the live second side of Blue Matter (due to illness) but for me he's their best vocalist.
Raw Sienna has some great tracks but they've added horns which I don't care so much for.
Enjoy.
Steve
Steve,
the two Cds I have coming are Street Corner Talking, and Looking In, both new & delivered for £7.16 which is okay on the price point.
But Savoy Brown is definitely on my buy more on vinyl list so thanks for the recommendations, all their albums are brand new to me [a bit before my time] so now I can enjoy the fun of getting acquainted.
Can’t help but notice the Decca labels on these reissues are made to look authentic original, and I shouldn’t wonder if in time that many folk will find them hard to tell apart from the original LPs just by looking, ...just a little tell-tail barcode on outer cover. I know that playing and listening is a different story.
Debs
Hi Debs,
I'm pleased you're getting into Savoy Brown. They've been one of my favourite blues bands since I was a kid. I don't think any group went through so many changes of personnel with only Kim Simmonds being the only constant member. For me the LPs with Chris Youlden represent the golden years. These are Getting to the Point, Blue Matter, A Step Further and Raw Sienna. Youlden wrote many of their best tracks. After that the group did maintain a blues style but became a little more rock orientated. You'll notice a big difference between the Shake Down LP, which is very raw, and the CDs you've ordered which are from a later period. Of the later albums 'Hellbound Train' is good if only for the title track.
I don't think these facsimile reissues will fool anybody. The original Decca LPs have a very distinctive look and feel to them.

Steve,
You reminded me to order this one!
We can compare notes when we both get the copy.
Three good buys from Pete at the market today.
A near mint 1st press to replace my well played copy.

CBS 1st press.
Also today a 2nd hand record shop had everything at half price. I obviously had to support a local business so I bought a number of LPs there.

Steve, i read one of your posts about a month ago - so thank you for that heads up! ; )
It sounds fab imo, gets better as it goes along [and the more red wine i drink] the SQ is very good but seems rather greedy for volume knob raise, about 2 'O' Clock here on my [now obsolete?] 552
Debs
I love Wang Dang Doodle, a great version. There's some very good guitar work on this LP.
Enjoy.
Steve
This also came today.

Debs
Debs,
I decided to buy it as I have the mono original and fancied seeing what the reissue quality was like with the stereo version. It's a very fine album.
