Get Back 180gm reissue 2010
A nice selection Steve. Bare Wires and Atomic Rooster are great albums. I also bought Snafu a few weeks ago.
Steve
Steve only picked up the SNAFU because I remember you had posted about it and commented that Micky Moody played on it.I all ways liked his playing on the early Whitesnake albums so thought I'd give it a go.
Hi Debs,
I've had that Pure Pleasure CJ&TF LP for a few years now and it gets a regular play because it's so good.
Enjoy,
Steve
Centaur by Orgone Box. If u like psychedelic pop check this out. Absolutely marvellous.

Hi Steve,
That's good to hear, i've only just unwrapped the parcel and was wondering about the quality.
It's in stock on jpc Germany for 31.99 euros which is about 29 quid, it seems expensive but on Amazon it's over 47 quid.
The Classic 200gm set of Prairie Wind was 49.99 euros... i say was cos it looks like i snatched their last in stock copy. Amazon uk have it for £67.99
I've lost count how many Neil Young albums i have now, must be around the dozen, always room for more : )
Debs
Debs,
It's worth checking out Pure Pleasures website, that particular album is £24.80 on there. They are a British company based in Twickenham. Every LP of theirs that I've bought has been excellent SQ.

Heard the track 'Red' on last night's fabulous 2.5 hour Eppy Gibbon Podcast - http://www.epilepticgibbon.co.uk/ so an easy vinyl purchase decision.

Great shout Denis - thanks. Just ordered a copy and there are only six left!
Years ago I used to play drums in bands with Eska singing on and off. She was always a notch or twenty up on the rest of us even then. And she is a delightful lady too. She contributes outstanding vocals to records by Cinematic Orchestra and David Sylvian - all must have recordings.
Hope to see you at a gig again soon.
Cheers
David
Wow, didn't realise you were a drummer David. I highly recommend you listen to the Podcast, which has a link to Mixcloud. That way you can listen in bite size chunks across the 2.5 hours & see who is playing on each track. I think we are meeting at the Crimson Projekct gig, so see you then

Hi Steve,
This 'Vinyl RUF Edition' reissue appears to be a rather nice German pressing : )
(p) 2011 Ruf Records GmbH www.rufrecords.de
Another little credit almost hiden away on the back outer sleeve corner is: The Blues Foundation www.blues.org
I find my reissue Decca Universal LPs have a wider soundstage that is hindered by some compression, careful position of the volume knob is needed but the Decca vinyl does sound okay but it‘s easy to imagine better SQ, ...i bet the originals are far better!
This Ruf LP - Voodoo Moon seems to have a different tonal structure which I far prefer, although this maybe the way/place of recording at the time. But the bass really digs deep, and with less compression, this is a real treat, an open, honest enjoyable LP with fab music.
Nice gatefold cover, and a good price at 15 quid.
I’d recommend this over those Decca reissues any day.

Doctor Zhivago. Soundtrack from 1965 (stereo). Not even on my radar, but while flipping through bins of mostly hammered vinyl at a thrift shop, this one stood out for the near new quality of both vinyl and jacket. I felt obliged to rescue this almost 50 year-old beauty for 99 cents. I remember my mom listening to this repeatedly when I was very young. When she comes to visit for my son's graduation in spring, I'll spin it for her; I'm sure she hasn't heard it in ages. It is a very quiet copy, and hearing this music again took me back to some of my earliest memories. Powerful music.
Not expecting much but I found a Holland pressing at a reasonable price. This is the '55 Eroica mono.
This arrived today. Never been a fan of Doxy recordings however, this sounds v good and excellent value £8.26 vinyl + free CD from Amazon.

arrived today from Germany...
I expect that Debussy Images Estemps would be right up on Arrau's alley.

Is there any way if you can tell whether it has been mastered from CD or from the original analogue tapes?
I managed to find a s/h vinyl copy of Miles Davis' 1985 album "Under Arrest". Not a big fan of his work after the '60's but this album has a brilliant cover of Cindy Lauper's "Time After Time". Found it in a great shop in Amersham - worth a visit if you're in the area.

Hi bluedog.
After talking to Steve J last night on the forum I am pretty sure that it will have been mastered from CD. However, don't think it sounds to digital, a little forward maybe, I listened to both sides twice last night and found the whole album very relaxing. The vinyl is well pressed with little or no surface noise on my copy. For the price I think it is a very good buy.
Graham.
FOC from my dealer for cleaning a couple of records for him.As posted last night not in the best of condition but still listenable. And at least i'll be able to compare the reissue against an original.
