What was the last vinyl you bought?
Posted by: apye! on 18 January 2011
Arrived today in the post:
What do I need to say? I found this gem on Discogs for a steal and still sealed.
This finally arrived today. It's a superb record. The best description I can give is Nick Drake meets folk blues. This is available as a vinyl reissue and I can strongly recommend it.
This was bought at the market day. 1st press Track Axis Bold As Love in excellent condition with a mint insert. Needless to say it didn't cost 10 quid but I feel I bought it for a fair price.
I borrowed a CD of this off a friend recently. I finally got round to listening to it on Tuesday, and on the strength of one listen - I was that impressed - I ordered a vinyl copy immediately. It's just arrived, and will be on the LP12 shortly...
Lee Hazlewood: The LHI Years (Singles, Nudes & Backsides 1968-71)
Well …. on its way from those nice Amazonian people
Is that for the wife Chris?
These two are arriving Monday. Would like to thank SteveJ for the heads up back in December, got them both for a good price on pre-order

They are excellent albums Graham. I hope the SQ of these reissues are good as the originals are superbly recorded.

Just bought at my local charity shop for £1.95 (Chrysalis CHR 1003)
http://www.discogs.com/Jethro-...rick/release/3858813
The vinyl looks unplayed. The outer cover is very good & the Newspaper is in excellent condition (albeit turned a bit brown & old stored newspaper smell).
If it has a white 'i' at the top of the label, as in the photograph, and the condition is as good as you describe, then you've really got a result there.
Nice one Denis. Hope you a well.

Hi Steve,
As in the picture above, the Butterfly & Chrysalis are in Red on the Green label).
I couldn't work out what was meant in the Discogs description...
Notes
Like this Denis.
Graham,
Let's arrange something soon. When you are coming down this way let me know and we'll fix something up.

Thanks Steve,
There is no Island logo & radial text in white at the head of the labels. Just a green background with black text & the red butterfly + chrysalis markings.
It does posses these identifiers though...
Barcode and Other Identifiers
- Matrix / Runout (A-Side Runout, Stamped): CHR 1003 A-3U
- Matrix / Runout (A-Side Runout, Hand-etched): PORKY
- Matrix / Runout (B-Side Runout, Stamped): CHR 1003 B-2U
- Matrix / Runout (B-Side Runout, Hand-etched): PECKO

Denis,
My copy has the same label as yours and is stamped A4 - B2. I bought my copy in 1977.
Dave
Hi Dave, Steve,
The other thing I noticed was, no indication of which country the LP was pressed. Nothing on the vinyl or the gatefold newspaper, strange!
Denis
It's British. The Porky and Pecko are the giveaway.

Today I visited the Record & Book Bar in west Norwood (South London - see separate thread), and acquired these mint LPs:
First UK pressing on DJM - Johnny Guitar Watson, "Ain't That A Bitch":
Cyclopean (Jaki Liebezeit, Irmin Schmidt, Jono Podmore, Burnt Friedman) - first press Spoon Records
Robert Cray, "Bad Influence", UK Demon fist press:
Basie/Sinatra, "It Might As Well Be Swing" (UK reprise first press, distributed by Pye, with flipbacks):
Result there Kevin. It's been a good weekend with the Hammers winning as well.
