Tangerine Dream - Edinburgh in the 1980's

Tangerine Dream as you say (in our opinions) are exceptionally boring and they're still going strong, based in Spandau in an old Cinema come disco, on the outskirts of Berlin. Strangely enough as far as I'm concerned at least they represent the most famous German band (World-Wide)of all time, pretty innovative stuff for their day. Scorpions are half Dutch, and sing in English, Nina a one hit wonder, and Boney M, well ?

Pissē As a poser, I did love watching "The hot House Flowers" play at Subaco
Stadium in Perth WA, accommpannyied by some geezers from up Norf, Dire
Straits or somethinmg, though the booze free clause was a bit of a late
shocker, as we were all well stocked up, and had to drink fast or bin it
all before going in. Eagles at Wembley-Arena (H California) was a very close second/third for quality though, innit.

Rush at Hammersmith Odeon and Springsteen at Brighton were standouts as well.

*The L.A. Doors - Alleycat Live, Reading 1996 (as near as you'll get to the real thing, and totally cool - oh, and our band headlined here once too, but we were crap!)
*Oasis - Knebworth 1996 (Oasis were crap as usual, but the Prodigy/Chemical Brothers/Bootleg Beatles were ace
*Carter USM - Reading Uni Great Hall, 11/1995 (sweat rained from the ceiling, but it was good)
*REM etc - Cardiff Arms Park, 1995 - blinding - totally blinding
*Panterra - Plymouth Pavillions, 1994ish (insane - glad we got the seats!)

How on earth could I ever forget!!!!

I did see Derek & the Dominoes at the Fillmore East. So good.....!

I did see the Beach Boys but I left them out on purpose because Brian Wilson wasn't there...and God almighty, I must be gettin soft upstairs, I saw Brian Wilson last summer in New York. A great concert at BB Kings on 42nd st.....

When I saw the BBs, they had the 'full' line-up - including Brian, Dennis and Bruce. Brian wasn't quite back yet though!

The other ones I forgot were the Byrds, also Bristol 1971, and the Allmans at Knebworth 1974.

Biggest misses were Traffic and the Who. I could have seen the Beatles in 1964 but a little too young!!!

Supertramp followed by Yes at Reading '75 (in the rain - it was magical, but would you let your 15 year old kid just take off for a festival weekend on their own? - I wouldn't!), Neil Young - every time, but especially at Pheonix Festival, Smashing Pumpkins last ever tour, Soundgarden every time at Brixton, Foo Fighters at Brixton when Pat Smear was with them (twice), Pink Floyd London Division Bell tour. Sigur Ros at Albert Hall last year, Sisters of Mercy at Albert Hall, Bauhaus early 80's in Brighton. Nick Cave '97 - but only because of the Australian girl I was with.

Who was with the Byrds when you saw them? I saw them when Clarence White was in the band (also at the Fillmore - I used to go almost every weekend for awhile). I regret not having seen the original Allmans but I did see Dicky Betts' Band once in N.J. ..... good but not the Allmans by any means.

Saw Chris Hillman recently in the UK but sadly never Manassas, which would have been amazing.

He was great - as was Harry Dean Stanton, who sang a Mexican lament, to the puzzlement of the audience. HDS was never identified; not too many people in Glasgow are Hispanic; and all this on top of Ry Cooder telling us it was a non-smoking gig, which as unheard of at the time.
