System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.
They look like the old sound organisation Tripods, used to have them before I ditched my original hifi, they were good and cost effective.
Allante, I also use a Tripod for my LP12. Ash Designs for the Naim kit.

I know, m/a’s Are a rare combination it’s seems but they sound great to me! the m/a’s have sizable spikes built in, just get a little lost on the carpet.
Isolation is my next thing but I am waiting until I get the power supply before commiting to what that might look like...today it’s some large granite chopping boards under both boxes...

You may find benefit in simply swapping the boxes round, too. It's a good idea to keep preamps away from transformers wherever possible, and the transformer in the 250 is on the right as you look at it from the front.
So with the 272 on the left and the 250 on the right instead, there's an extra foot or so distance.
You may not hear a difference, but if you do, free upgrade.
It all looks lovely, btw.
Adamxjc posted:First time system pic! Naim made it into my lounge in 2017 and I have been blown away. The 272/250 combo is amazing for someone that doesn’t have *any* physical music collection but loves sound. Already dreaming of an xps for 2018 and perhaps some focal sopra 2’s to complete. My track of 2017 was Duvchi’s “whole life tour” and the system bought it to life.
Happy 2018.

Adam, is this a bespoke piece of AV furniture or a “standard” one??

its just a standard piece but its hugely heavy and pretty vast... we knew we wanted something wider than the TV and my previous set up included a bunch of Cambridge Audio AV Stuff, so need copious space underneath to house the double height boxes... those boxes got traded for the svelte Naim boxes and of course, they have to go on top

Boby, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy mine I went for the dark side of the colour choices.
Samsung for the eyes, Naim for the ears.
A new addition for 2018, an XPS2. I wasn't really planning on getting one, at least not yet. But I happened to see it come up at what seemed a great price. It'll be going off to Class A for a service soon, but already I've been able to hear the difference, and it's lovely.
Not a DR, but even if I get it DRed at a later date it'll have cost a very substantial amount less than a new XPSDR. Hell, even with the service it's still costing me less than most unserviced XPS2s I've seen advertised.
Santa was kind to you...

From where, Adam?
Found it! No need to reply, Adam.

Wonderful loooking PCD! Awesome setup tough! I drive Spendor D7 with Sn2 and Dac-v1, can’t imagine how good they sound with that magic piece of gear!
I hope I will enjoy mine more and more. as I have from only 3 weeks.
cheers!
I've recently changed from my ProAc D15's, which simply don't work in my newer, smaller listening space, to some ATC SCM19's.
They've been bedding in for about ten days now and are just coming on song.
This morning, I played Sandy Denny singing "Fotheringay" - solo voice with acoustic guitar accompaniment - and although I'm very familiar with this track, for the first time, I could clearly hear Sandy's breath passing through her throat as she sang! This level of detail is a whole new world.
There's no loss of musicality either and the soundstaging is rock solid. I'm SO impressed.
So after purchasing this astonishing pair of speakers, here's my modest contribution to the thread:
Mike, can you speak about your acoustic wall treatments please?
Amazon purchase. The panels disrupt reflected bass frequencies and deaden the tendency of my rock and concrete plaster-covered Spanish walls to imitate an echo chamber.
I can now hear a very nearly decay-less handclap.
Just glued them up...

RB1000 if he has not upgraded last year’s setup.

I recently listened to these speakers at my Naim dealer through a 272/XPS DR and 250DR. Very impressive sound and lovely fit and finish. Congratulations.
I was a bit silly and should have put my system pics in the right thread. Anyway its a Core, Nova, NAP300DR, NACa5 threaded under fireplace with audio quest Forest ethernet, Audioquest Cinnamon optical for TV sound, and PMC 25.26. Cold miserable day, log fire burning, speakers do not get hot before anyone asks.
A close up of the Fraim and Nova, Core, and NAP300dr.
Wow! Your Nova acts as preamp to the NAP300DR power amp?
Give one a listen, the Nova preamp and DAC is better than most assume. This is my stop gap until Naim has a new streamer series.

Lookin' good Gazza. By the way, do your speakers not get hot so close to the fire?

I doubt they have much, if any affect on bass frequencies, it's mids and highs that are diffused with those kinds of panels (hence hand claps sounding less reflective).
