System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.

To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.

I haven’t really run a comparison of various NAS power supplies. To arrest a spread of audiophilia nervosa I simply installed an Israeli one. And live happily in my semi-delusional state, knowing that it is at least not worse than the standard one

On a serious note - power supplies, streaming cables were part of my streaming network’s improvments and tweaks. I kept tweaking untill my CDX2 and NDX feeding nDAC sounded the same (rips done by UnitiServe into WAV).

Lots of changes last year for the main and bedroom systems.

Not the prettiest set up but waiting on a new place come June.

Main system, LP12 Ittok Krystal, SAM Alderbaran Sumiko Black Bird LO, Stagline K Flatcap 2, NAC 172, NAP 250.5, S-400.

Bedroom, Unitiqute 2, LP12 Klyde, Vincent Pho 700, PMC Tweenty 22 / Tannoy revolution signature, Manley Stingray (for some tube loving)

While my system looks visually identical to last year's system pics, this year's upgrades were substantial.  It started in January with DR overhaul of my 15 year old NAP500. The DR upgrade is essentially an entire new (current spec) amp.... It took months for the amp to break-in, but the results were worth the wait.  Next up was a Recap/DR service for my 13 year old 552.  Like the 500 it took time for it to "come on song" but when it did the improvements were not subtle.  Finally cables were replaced with Chord Music and Naim Super Lumina speaker cable. While these cables are $$$, they are well worth the price.... the Chords revealing how good Naim electronics sound.  With all these changes I get very different listening experience.  The sound is big and effortless while also being delicate and spatial. Not terms commonly associated with Naim Audio, but all the fundamentals are there.  Upgrades for 2018 are already on the drawing-board (hint hint).  Watch this forum for more on that.

Wonderful room and system! Love the view out on the water!

Love that all black Fraim and apart from the obvious it looks like a great place to sit back with an expensive Brandy and chill out.  I bet those Naim speakers sound pretty good with that system.

A high end system that blends so well into the room. Very nicely done indeed

A lovely system there Ulrikl.

I can't help but be amused by the need for an n-sub to supplement the bass response of the Ovator S800 speakers.  It would seem that a system can never have too many bass drivers!

Best regards, FT

Ulrikl,

would it be possible to re-host your pictures using Imgur?

Hosting pictures using Photobucket is no longer free.

This is ours (more-or-less to-scale).

But.....see Streaming Audio forum for discussion of the difficulties this is currently causing. Nevertheless, we simply do not have the wall-space, nor room at all for CDs in our living area.

Nice - love that - is that an original Ion Obelisk hiding in there too ?

Posted on: 14 January 2018 by JamieWednesday

Yes it's a Kallax, I constructed some extra shelves for it though.

And yes it's an Ion Obelisk 3. Getting on for 30 years old now but still sounds marvellous (via some Tellurium Q Black) into the Neats.

Chromecast Audio streams into the DAC with DVD player acting as CD transport.

Although it's my study system, it's what's on most of the time and sounds very sweet.

Not sure how photobucket works for images you post yourself, so in case this looks like a strange request [@mention:51267011877501057], the images you posted earlier are now no longer visible to anyone.

If you re-host and re-post them with imgur, everyone will be able to see them.

I can match you in time-scales but not remotely on quantity.  I've obviously got to catching up to do.

Actually the N-Sub clean up the mid and hi, it´s not for the bass at all.

Those are lovely photos and that is one impressive record collection. In fact I think the last time I saw one like it was in 1984.

By comparison here's our record collection:
