System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.
Marksnaim posted:Finally got the building work finished and set this all up just before xmas. Took an age for it all to warm up after being boxed away for over a month but started coming fully on song about two weeks ago. Now sounding like I had hoped it would in the larger room. Dedicated mains and a new Grahams Hydra down the back. Sometimes miss the intimacy of the smaller room, near field experience but on balance I wouldn't swap back. Only remaining issue is that the NAT01 doesn't work. It was tested and ok at my dealers so there must be some ariel issue. Annoying having spent so much money to get everything ready for it. One for the electrician to check when they come back.
Very nice. Are you pleased with the Booplinth?

Great pic Mark. What is that rack system? Does it sound as great as it looks?

The rack is Blok. Very high standard of finish and very solid. It certainly sounds a lot better than the oak cabinet it was all previously squeezed into but to be fair I made a lot of changes at the same time so it’s hardly a fair comparison. New room, dedicated mains, Grahams Hydra and the Blok at the same time. I’m pleased with the looks and more importantly so is my wife. Very good value and I found the makers very helpful.

Yes, very much so. Not sure it’s the best value upgrade ever but it certainly took the LP12 to another level in terms of information retrieval without changing the fundamental character of the deck. I personally like the looks too, kind of reminiscent of the original fluted plinth design.
My two best friends, my Linn LP 12 and David Crosby.

Lovely system Mark. Linn front and back is still iconic...

Lovely mix of kit there and good to see an 01 lurking too. Very nice
Great post, some lovely systems out there. Stupid question how do you post a picture I am struggling (thick) !
If you start at page 1 you will see that the picture posting process has been explained.
I found it worked easier from my iMac, but not ipad
I must be thick what do you put in source when hitting the mountain icon

The URL of the picture. Usually you just right-click the image and select "copy image address" then paste that into "source". Flickr is completely different.
Will keep trying cheers for details

Kevin, Do you get much echo as the room appears to be somewhat cavernous? My living room is open with the kitchen causing a lot of echo that distorted the sound, so I moved the main system to another location.

Acoustics aren’t the greatest but I’ve sadly no reasonable alternative currently . The main issue isn’t the size of the room - the pic above was taken by a pro photographer and if you look carefully you’ll see plenty of evidence at the edges that it’s a macro lens with the usual fish-eye effects making the room look much larger than it’s true dimensions of 12’ x 18’ (into a rounded bay). Ceiling height is high though at almost 10’.
The real issues are:
1) lots of hard surfaces, glass, plastered walls, wooden floors and only thin Roman blinds on the main Windows. The fault I identify in the sound is definitely in the direction of the room being too ‘Live’.
2) lack of anything remotely approaching symmetry - it’s a sitting room rather than my dedicated space and for domestic harmony reasons the only practical place for the speakers is either side of the fireplace. This means they fire across the room and the speakers are 8’ apart and each is only around 9’ from my ears with 3 1/2’ behind my head to the back wall. worst of all, the Right Speaker is only 2’ from the Right-hand wall, while the Left Speaker is 8 or 9’ from the peak of the circular bay.
I think Shahinian speakers care less about any of this than most designs, but still would sound better in a more favourable environment. However, it still sounds pretty awesome to me !
In case that’s all a bit confusing...
Would have preferred metric measurements but I do like your fire diagram. Thank you for sharing. And no watches in the foreground.
