System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.
Clive, totally agree with you. My comment was tongue in cheek. Love SBLs...

Just fondly, Dave. The NBLs have much greater presence and authority. They may be physically bigger, but they convey a much bigger sound image too, yet they're just as agile. All three speakers from the Naim Separate box series, plus the SL, are class leading in their own way (IMHO, of course). But I'm sure everyone knows that.
I did post a picture of my NBLs on here some years ago, but I just cannot seem to do so now through Flickr, despite following the instructions posted on here. I don't see an 'Embed' option.

As I understand it, Flickr makes some effort to ensure that its users can't just post pictures to e.g. forums like this without making the picture a link to Flickr. If that's correct, it could be one reason why people tend to prefer imgur for forum picture posting purposes nowdays.
Thanks, Dave. I’ll investigate imgur over the weekend.

Worthwhile doing, Clive. I've used Photobucket and ImageShack before that and imgur beats them both.

300Dr running for a couple of weeks and getting better & better, LP12 NDX,282, HCDR Cherry & Black Fraim
LP12 in for a major upgrade in April, Kore, Lingo 4, Khan (in Black) tranquilty -
x2 fraims for next project brawn and brains - then pos NDX2 - when with dealers
Man cave - my B&W 805N - which love the 300DR, awaiting budget and Kudos T505 or T606, with even bigger budget!
Recycled to Montpellier, CDX2/282/Hi/250 with not a DR between them, the speakers are Thiel CS1.6. These are replaced items from my main system with the addition of a few Fraim fittings, 1 new full fat shelf fot the CDX2 and a few Herbies Gliders under the speakers. On the visit before last I fitted the speaker’s outriggers, cones and the gliders. The sound was horribly piercing making most piano music unlistenable but when we returned a few months later it had cured itself and now sounded wonderful. Everythig was unpowered in the interim so maybe the Herbies need to settle or the speakers do after being on their sides while I fitted the outriggers, bit of a mystery.
The next addition will be my Rock mk2 with Aro and I’m trying to decide on a cartridge. It will have to cope well with mono discs but also play the odd stereo one though not necessarily in stereo. I’m tempted to give a Decca a try, either a maroon or gold, that leaves a choice of mono or stereo wired and rely on the mono switch.

Lovely system Anthony. You could put the LP12 on a nice Tiger Paw or Custom Design wall shelf and free up an empty shelf between the two parts of your 300. Put the spare fraim glass on top of the wall shelf beneath the LP12 this would be cheaper and also take up less room than another whole stack.
But whatever you decide a lovely set up bet it sounds great.
Sold the Qute 2 and Fraimlite base+level (2x) and bought a ND5XS with Ikea cabinet. My latest set up.
Nice set up and new addition with ND5XS Robiwan.
Were you using you UQ2 as a dedicated streaming source into the SN? If so, how did it perform and did you do a comparison with the ND5XS? Curious as I'm contemplating potential upgrade paths from the UQ2!

The Qute was connected via it's digital output to the SN DAC. The 2012 ND5XS is better in every aspect. But sadly with all new things after 2 days you are accustomed to the better SQ.

Thanks Robiwan, I did wonder how you'd set up the Qute - interesting that it fed into the SN1 Dac. I'd forgotten about the Dac fitted as standard. Were you able to control the SN volume and also select UPnP streamed albums via Qute and the Naim app?

i only used it for spotify connect on laptop and iRadio, just as with ND5XS. I'm probably the only one with no smartphone.

I used a Qute this way, while my NDX was away being serviced. System automation integration with other components is not a feature of the Qute, or any Uniti; only the ND players do it, and the nDAC, somewhat.

Thanks Nick - appreciated. So essentially the UQ can act as a UPnP / iRadio source only, UPnP selections made via the App, but the dedicated Supernait remote then controls the volume? But with an NDX streamers (and above) the SN volume can be controlled via the App after connecting with a remote in / out minijack cable?
Exactly. And the Qute worked fine, as far as it can. I rely on system automation, so was very glad when the NDX-FM retuned.
I love the Qute — Very capable and flexible.

Thanks Bob, did try a Vulkan shelf, need not feel happy with the wieght and look, I am going to get x 2 fraims classic approach need base and x 1 shelf which I am going to do later this year if funds allow following rebuild of my Lp12 by Dr Swain
playing Pink Flloyd DSOTM last night and Us & them brought tiers to my eyes to be honest, the DR has really stepped up on the 300 in a couple of weeks, 805N are really liking the extra control of the DR too, can't wait to hear the Kudos T505
Evren, what are those racks? In concert with the power amps, they give a pleasing, almost steampunk flavour.

Hi Dave, they are from one of Turkish producer located in Istanbul.
My new Muso QB currently setup in my caravan just need to tidy up the wires but from the start it sounds wonderful, the wife loves the look of the QB but hates the fact there's music home and away.
