System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.
Lovely looking system, welcome aboard.
I'd also like to share a picture of my system at my "office". For the last three years I've been running a coffee shop/craft beer bar/record store in Oslo, Norway. It's important to have great sound also at the office, so I went out and got me some Naim.
You are on my bucket list......very cool

What's the name of the shop? I've been to Oslo (and really liked the place) a few times for the Inferno festival. If I go again it'd be fun in an isn't-it-a-small-world way to know where it is. Plus our sound guy loves craft beer!
It's called Hendrix Ibsen, located at Vulkan. We are actually moving into the hotel next door called PS Hotel, and I'm most likely going to relocate the Naim system to one of my shops in Berlin (called Oslo kaffebar). There will still be a small selection of vinyl for sale, and lots of great coffee and beer. I hope this was not against any forum rules for advertising in any form!

For all the blind, there is a piano and it is regardless it's quality far, far preferred above amplifiers.
The carpenter I'm currently working with is the drummer of the band Posthum. Maybe you have heard of them? Also a fellow music lover/hifi enthusiast and a former Naim owner.
The piano is of pretty good quality and was used for our opera and beer nights we used to host. Eventually the main opera singer moved to Copenhagen. It was a blast while it lasted!

I’m slow tonight, on first reading I thought it was Henrik and missed the point of the name completely.
Yes the name only makes sense IMO if you use it our way! I'm not going to spam this thread with off topic, so this will be the one and only non-Naim picture from me. My girlfriend made the poster for the Pride parade some years ago.

I have a 16th century country pub in the UK but a coffee shop/craft beer bar/record store is a combination made in heaven IMHO. That is sheer genius! Great systems and great settings. Welcome to the forum, I think we are going to enjoy your posts.

It does break forum rules - please read, if you haven't done so already. I won't delete this post but would ask you to please respectfully refrain from discussing your commercial interests on here. That way the forum is kept as "clean" as possible. Thanks.
Will do! I did just read the forum rules, but was unsure since I was answering a direct question, and it is Naim related in some capacity at least..

kmoldskred posted:I suppose two 555PS DR on the NDS is an option, but my plan is to upgrade the XPS DR to one 555PS DR at some point. But I'm in no hurry! Or maybe I need to think outside the box here to understand your observation? I'll have another beer and see what happens..
555DR indeed is a must on NDS. A large improvement over XPS-DR. ????

Looks fantastic Antony. Let us know how it goes with the Lingo 4 and the Kore. The Kore and Lingo 4/Armageddon are next on my upgrade list

kmoldskred you have a great system and if you tell me your girlfriend doesn't glaze over and is really interested when you explain what a Supercap does for a Nac I'm going to have to come to Norway and steal her from you!
Thanks for all the welcome greetings and nice words! Sadly my girlfriend is not interested in the how and why, she just accepts the situation. But I think she secretly admires the system when I'm not around. At least that's what I tell myself. I have shown her pictures of an active system with DBLs, so I think she appreciates what we now have very much. Here is a picture of the setup before several upgrades and Fraim. At this point we were not sure if we were staying in Oslo, so I didn't do much to make it look nice. The picture was taken the day I got my SBLs, and I quickly repositioned everything so they were better placed. My apartment is not large enough for alternative placements, so compromises must be made.
With recent posts in mind, I happened to notice the coffee mug I was using earlier was sort of appropriate, as I picked it up last time I was in Oslo. So, in the spirit of anglo-Norwegian Naim appreciation:
And no, I wasn't familiar with Posthum, will check them out...
S3 posted:Drdavid posted:S3 posted:Drdavid posted:Hi DrDavid, do you mean the oak platforms or the glass?
I was asking about the glass. Reading your post again (more properly!) I see that you refer to fraim glass but where did you get just the glass platform from? Thanks, appreciate the replies (and your system looks beautiful....)
From my local glass merchant. I gave him the exact Naim specs (from the forum) showed him a picture of the fraim and he ordered from his supplier. They are very good quality and the “ding” is there too!
Thanks for that. I shall investigate further at some point; will involve some re-arranging of the various boxes which always fills me with dread as to then being able to wire up properly again!
Nice system, KMOLDSKRED.
Is that my old SBLS without the center cone on one of the bass drivers? I think I have the remaining parts...
Thanks! CHALSHUS, yes it is. That sounds fantastic! I could swing by one day or we could meet up in Oslo. You are more than welcome to stop by and listen to some nice music on your old SBLs. I'll make some good coffee!

Memories of my SBL,s just lovely
Those SBLs look lovely! Mine in black are a bit rougher I suppose, but they match my own look these days.
Another pair of Sibbles are always welcome in System Pics Kmoldskred! Very nice.
