System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.
And I thought you just liked World music....

(apologies for the wonky iPhone photo!)
Favourite colour ? Definitely mid summers midnight blue.

Yes, we've had quite a bit of that recently. Here's a shot looking out of the same window - sorry, not even a pair of speakers in view this time! Maybe we need a new thread for the view from your listening room.

I am looking at the Spendor A4 myself. I am curious. If it's not too much trouble, could you tell which speakers the A4 replaced, and how they compare?
Liked your set-up too. World class rack.
Chag -

I didn't remember you had one in cherry and one in maple...
Joking!
Ciao

Its the savings on electricity to afford all the black boxes running 24/7
New camera or not

Whenever I’ve had an empty shelf it hasn’t taken long to develop a plan for filling it.

I’m not sure they replaced anything as such but perhaps the A5 in some way, there are reviews online but obviously an audition is a must
Daniel, your question was to Mercky, so this is my opinion since I was going the same path.I rapleced my Atc Scm11 with Spendor A2, but had A4 on home demo too. If I had a biger room, I would without any doubt go for A4. The difference betwen Spendor and Atc, to my taste, is huge. Atc was there to present instruments and details, Spendor A2 and A4 are there to play music. It is the difference betwen cold presentation and warm embrace of music without a huge difference in details. Bass depth with my A2 is almost identical to Scm11 with Rel T-zero sub. It is the presentation of music where the real difference is. I listened to the sama song with Scm11 and A2. A2 was a melodic joy, bringing up all the emotions, while Scm11 was a dry presentation. Comparing A2 to A4, A4 was more of everything. Briliant speaker, but unfortunately to big for my listening space. I sit two and half meters away from speakers, and close to rear wall.

Thank you. That is very informative.
Time line and synergy. A bill Evans recording played through the ancient olive machines sounds delicious with a pale light and still air of our hazy sizzling afternoon.

The 1981 album (You Must Believe In Spring) was recommended by our friend Max. Thanks again.
that's a narrow depth of field!
As was..
....and with new arrival now is..
Twice the fun
Love the deck, I always wanted to try a Nima on my LP12. Really like the black 'wide' Hutter to Kevin very nice.
I just bought a new (used) phono stage on a well known auction website. The owner told me his system had an LP 12 with a Nima arm. I'd never heard of that combination before. Perhaps it's more common than I thought.

I think it was Peter at Cymbiosis who starting using this combination, and from what I've read detailing LP12 specs & builds on the Linn forum, he even worked with Roksan directly to help get the arm modded for cable routing for the LP12 plinth, so the latest production version of the Nima is now very Linn friendly.
@Kevin J Carden - the system looks great with the new LP12 / Nima combination - congratulations on the purchase and more importantly, the new lease of life its going to bring to the old vinyl - superb! Over the summer holidays (all being well) i'm going to head down and listen to one of Peter's creations.

TBH, for budgetary reasons I only really compared the Nima vs Akito in the audition. To my ears the Akito is the classic pacy, dynamic, toe tapping Linn sound that many will prefer, but for me the Nima has a much freer and more fluid sound with more air and makes each disc sound different to the last and for me just makes delicious music. I guess I fall on the Unipivot side of the divide. I’m sure Aro, or perhaps even the new Tiger Paw Javelin would be better still, but sitting listening right now I think the Nima is superb. very happy

I currently have an Ittok which I love but am in the process of buying an early (1978) LP12 with the original Fidelity Research FR12 tonearm which If doesn't suit me will be reolaced with a Nima which for the money is about the best Unipivot money can buy...

I just got rid of flowers from my left loudspeaker, and now this has appeared on my lovely amp.
Help!
This should sort it
This did make me laugh! It can only be considered outrageous behaviour putting anything on top of a hi-fi system, just unbelievable! I remember having several arguments with my (now wife) friends when they tried to leave bunches of keys on top of my amplifier, or folded up glasses on my speakers. Nothing, yes NOTHING is ever put on top of the system or speakers
Here is a snap of my current set up, really enjoying it so far. I think the main difference between the SL2's and SBL's is the step up in bass control and quality, they certainly have a bit more grunt which I can only put down to the fact they are a much larger speaker, and the lower cabinet is larger which therefore gives the driver more 'depth'. I still love my SBL's and I shall never part with them, but I am really happy with the SL2's also.
In terms of change, rather than the 135's I previously used, I am now running an old bolt down 250 at present which also sounds wonderful. Same pre and PS, and the UQ2 with LP12.
I cannot get enough of old Naim equipment, the sound it produces is uniquely perfect. It's fast, sharp, bouncy, clean, and overall just fun to listen to
Please excuse the less than perfect photo's, my iphone camera isn't quite up to scratch lately, may be time for an upgrade...

Can I recommend 800 series B&Ws (I use 10 year old 804S), try balancing anything on those.

Great looking setup Lewis. A nice cross-section of Naim style over the past 30+ years. And I do like the Naim Fraim in cherry with black legs. Maybe I should get my silver legs "wrapped"...?

May I recommend you move the left SL2 away from corner/sidewall at racks place, this could better go into corner, just a suggestion.
