System Pics 2018

Welcome to System Pics 2018.
To start things off, here are a couple of pictures of my setup. There have been some big changes over the past year; a 300 and a 555PS, and some extra shelves to accommodate them.

blimey HungryHalibut.
Are you working your way back to a 552?
Very smart Nigel.

Looks like you've had a trip to Crawley. Looks good and finishes things off rather nicely.
Must admit it’s a nice match with the SL2 veneer.....always liked Nigel’s speakers they look so right. Even the really expensive 15 K plus speakers have veneers that just look fake these days to my eyes. One of these days will have to listen to a pair, being a former SBL owner, I have an itch.
Looks great HH and a nice match with the SL2 was the Fraim new or did you pickup that fantastic deal on PF.

Looks great, but then the SVT looked great too. It’s the sound that counts. What changes are you hearing in the music HH?

I hope it sounds better? It will need to for the investment to be justified (obviously).

What goes around comes around......expensive hobby. Hutter’s next!
I still need to sort out the burndies, as they are touching the floor, but the initial reaction is that it sounds clearer and more lively. My balls are polished and the glass is all the right way up.
A few people have twigged where I got it from and what I paid, but lest anyone think I’ve gone spending mad, I paid £1,000 for it, which I thought was pretty good. Hopefully I can recoup that by selling the SVT. The chap I bought it from has a brilliant Smiths collection and used to travel around recording them in the mid 80s. So the Fraim has had a good life, playing great music. I had a cherry one with black legs before, so having maple with silver legs is a nice change. I did um and ah about whether to get it, but I’m so pleased I did.
A new TT arrived in my house. Something I was looking for for a very long time.

Now no bragging, HH ![]()
May your balls shine and my your rack extend. I sense the return of many happy shelves - dont resist, it’s inevitable - the 272 is probably quaking in its boots....
.
No. The 272 is going nowhere, though I may consider its replacement should one ever appear. I thought about an ND555 and a 552, using some of the compensation from my accident, but it’s just so much money. Instead, I’ve put it in the bank to help the boys with house deposits. The system I have is absolutely brilliant and the Fraim has upped things a lot, which I’m now hearing as everything is back on song after being off for an hour or two. It’s all rather wonderful.

Good man.
Nothing wrong with a 272 and the Fraim is a nice touch icing on the cake.

Oh, now that is something rather lovely. I've always had a bit of a hankering for a PLC-590. Such a purposeful looking design. IIRC Noel Keywood (?) used one back in the day for doing tonearm comparisons in one of the mags. A Stax UA-7 or Acos Lustre GST-801 was the de rigeur choice back then. I have a mint PLC-61, which is rather a rare one, but I'd be very tempted to swap it for a PLC-590 if a nice enough one ever came my way. Enjoy!

Thank you Richard! I was hunting this one for 3 years. Several days ago I got lucky. The PLC-590 came with a carbone fibre arm PA-1000 and PP-312 shell (not on the picture). For me this TT is 15 kg of beauty
The PL-61 is a nice one too.

Yes indeed james! I'm quite happy to have it in my vintage system.

Jesus Christ, finally! I've been waiting months for you to do it. I simply knew it. Ciao.
